When I was on Levlen I only took the little yellow ones and not the white ones ... might take your body a little bit to adjust though
hope this helps

I've just recently started taking levlen after I finished breastfeeding my bub, and my gp advised that I could skip my period by not taking the sugar pills and just starting a new packet.
I did this last month and am now about half way through the next packet but have now had a very light period for about 3 days. Is this right? Should I stop taking the white pills and go back to the sugar pills?
I really want to figure out how to avoid my period as we are heading off on a holiday soon and dont want to deal with it while we are away?
Thanks in advance for your replies

I used to be on Levlen and my GP advised not to miss the first couple of periods but after that it was safe to miss two out of three (I think not because of health effects but then you could see a period was happening normally). If you have gone past the sugar pills I would continue the hormone pills until the next round.
so does that mean ill get another period when i start with the sugar ones again?
Just to make sure you know: The white pills are the sugar ones and the yellow pills are the active ones! So you can skip the white (slightly bigger) ones, but NOT the yellow ones! DTMS?
Most likely yes, however I don't understand why you got the breakthrough bleed int he first place?I've skipped my period (also on Levlen
) a few times (holidays, special "dates" coming up i.e. anniversary
etc etc), but I never had a breakthrough bleed.
So I'm a bit stumped. Maybe talk to your doctor about this!
Apparently a breakthrough bleed is common when you first start on the pill. I never had one either, but the majority of my friend's had bleeds on the pill.
But yeah, I would just double check it out with a Dr.
I too skipped my periods frequently on Levlen (under doctors instructions due to heavy, painful periods and endo) and I never had a breakthrough bleed.
Maybe it is just your body adjusting. I'd be inclined to just continue taking the pills in the correct order (so don't switch to the sugar pills now) but take the sugar pills when you're due to so you can make sure you have a period then try skipping the next month.
When I first went on Levlen I had the bleeding for the first few cycles even though I skipped ITMS ... I am certain it has somethign to do with the level of hormones adjusting to become "regular" ITMS?? then it all balances out and you can skip without a worry x
thanks everyone for your replies
I just want to figure it all out before we go away in 6 weeks time!!
