    Estrogen levels while stimming

    Hi

I have a question. I am on day 6 of stimming on an antagonist cycle (so have had five jabs so far, number six is tonight). I had a blood test this morning to check that I hadn't started ovulating. The nurse just rang withe results. She said my LH and progesterone are lovely. No ovulation. But then she said she was going to contact my FS about my estrogen. It is 1127. She said she couldn't comment because they are not given a range for estrogen.

I have no idea what my levels have been previously.

    Is 1127 normal? high? low?

At the scan my FS saw six follicles which are not yet mature. I think she said they are 14mm.

    Advice and comments most welcome

    Thanks!!!

N2l- I know nothing much about it but when I did a stim cycle I remember the Dr saying mine was good and it was 3000, so maybe yours is in the low side? Theres always something to worry about isn't there. The nurse must have a range, she wouldn't contact the Dr for nothing as most of them get annoyed if they are bothered for no reason, cos they are busy. Saying that, if you have 6 follies, something must be going right so try not to stress ( haha), I'm sure it will all work out and theres time to fix stuff if needed, best wishes x

    Thanks Saff x

Was your 3000 in the middle or end of your stimming??
The nurse was adamant she didn't have an estrogen range so...

"try not to stress".... That's a good one xxx

Hi N2L, as maruschke's link says, my nurses had told me a mature follie will be about 500 at trigger, so based on your levels and number of follies and number of days stimming I think it is pretty right. I have always had super high e2 levels like 12000 at trigger but I have PCOS and normally have 20+ follies, but normally low quality due to over stimming.

So I think you are in a pretty good position. Wishing you all the best with this cycle xxx

I agree with BTT : and FYI e2 is generally lower in an antagonist cycle

Interesting update - Just spoke to a nurse at the clinic. My FS is happy to continue on as planned as I have a scan booked on Monday anyway (which will pick up any problems no doubt) but I discovered the concern is the risk of OHSS. The nurse said that levels over 2000 at end of stimming are indicative of over stimulation risk. Every clinic obviously has its own criteria. Anyhoo...Hopefully all will be good.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful replies and best wishes x

HI N2L I had EPU yesterday and had 40 follies (I have polycystic ovaries) and my FS was very happy with my oestregen levels which were at 6,000. He said anything over 10,000 is a concern for him for OHSS

Thanks KMond! I think it's becauseit was only day 5 of stims that they are watching it.

I have this really strong metallic taste in my mouth too It's horrible!

Well done on 40 follies!!! How many eggs did you get??

I have pcos too but I don't respond well to stims for some reason

No Maruschke, same old vitamins and supplements here!

I have done some research and apparently it is caused by estrogen rising. It's why a lot of women have it in early pregnancy.

I got 11 eggs, 9 were mature and 8 fertilised. Now just gotta get some good looking ones to day 5.

Good luck with the rest of your stimming!

That's great KMond!! You must be thrilled

I am glad my clinic does two day transfers. Not sure I could hold out stresswise until day five!!

    Good luck x

Firstly congrats Kmond on 8 fertilised eggs thats a great result!

The levels are confusing N2L, cos the more I think about it the more i think my level of 3000 was at the end of my first stim cycle that was cancelled, so how can a level over 2000 be a risk of ohss when i couldn't even get enough follies on 3000??

I'm sure you will be fine, sometimes I think it would be nice to go into a sensory deprivation chamber for our cycles so we don't have to stress about every blood test and u/s result etc, just come out of it to a bfp!! GOOD LUCK for your next scan.

OK so I am a bit late jumping into this thread but I am one of these crazy ladies that remember every single E2 result!!!! I am extremely unpredictable - of my three stims that have got as far as my first blood test, my oestrogen has been 2200 (after 7 days), 289 (after 7 days) and . . . 7200 after 5 days!!!!!!!!!! As I say, unpredictable. My clinic say that as long as E2 roughly doubles every few days, then they are happy. My first cycle, I peaked at 13000 and the clinic was making noises about overstim, second was 3000 and we got 4 eggs and the last one was just a giant big ohss disaster. I am rambling but I reckon your E2 after 5 days is not too bad at all and you are on track for a nice amount of eggies (but not way too many).

Hope your scan brings you some great news tomorrow - good luck and crossing everything that this is your cycle HTH

Oooohh, just remembered what the nurse said last cycle - she said that they would consider cancellation if a BT after 5 days of E2 is over 2000 so maybe that is what your nurse meant? Would definitely make more sense after 5 days than at the end of stims?
