I have some really ouchie pains radiating around the lower part of my bump feels like a pulled muscle, worse on right side but still sore on left too? Normal? My bump is pretty huge and has grown rapidly in the last month. I'm 26 weeks but am the size I was at 33/34 weeks last time (eek)
What can I do? I've tried heat and panadol, both help a little. I have my SiL (to be) Hens Day/night today and I'm worried I won't make it I've been looking forward to it for months, a night away in a hotel etc...
Any ideas about how to reduce the pain, support the belly bump? Apologies for the ramble, I'm in bed in my phone
it could be muscle seperation (diastatis rectus abdominis muscle DRAM). can you get a really supportive tummy band? from a physio you can get stuff called tubigrip.
Long story: I was going to say muscle separation, but HotI beat me to it. I apparently got it from DS1 but only felt it with DS2. I didn't act on it straight away and it meant that my pelvis was unsupported (by those muscles) and i got SJD. That was ouchies too!!! So, i would recommend seeing a Physio, getting some advice and seeing if tubigrip (or pelvic support belt even) can help. As soon as i put my first tubigrip on i felt like somebody had just taken a huge weight off my tummy. And I was tiny too.
Short story: See a physio or similar, get some tubigrip. It's good for after the birth too.
Tubigrip rocks. I used it with my last pregnancy when I separated the muscles and have started using it for this one too. I'm 23 weeks in and helps enormously. Particularly when you are standing or walking a lot.
Good luck today.
Tubigrip is awesome! My hips were out of line when I was PG - one was 1-2cm higher than the other which caused horrible pinching in my lower back from 26 weeks. I've started wearing it again 3 weeks post CS for extra support, it is a lifesaver!
I had bad pain in the same area with my last one & i was walking 12km or more a day & by 7 months it was very painful.I didn't know about the muscle separation thing i just figured it was my muscles protesting at having my 4th & they were weaker from the previous pregnancies.I had to walk to take my son to school & pick him up & also to do shopping etc so i just used the pain to practice for the birth It hasn't started with this one yet, then again i havn't been walking as much but if it does i might look into the belts the other ladies have mentioned ,they sound like a good idea.Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy
