    Question Nursery feels so meh

BB peoples I need help, yes probably both kinds too

This will be the third time I have needed to redo the nursery. It started with how it was done up after I finished it after we lost Nikita. Then that didn't feel quite right to be left set up that way for DD so it was changed. NOW it doesn't feel right for this baby.

I keep sitting in there and going ........ meh ........ meh ....... its just so .......... meh

SO I NEED to change it but to what??

This is how it currently looks, the wall stickers will come off and be replaced but the decorations will be largely influenced by the linen set we use.

NOW here comes the tricky part
DH and I both like different sets. I like them all but I have my preference.

DH likes this one - because its purple and he likes purple: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...98-sugar-plum/

I like this one because I just do: https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-berry-garden/

    BUT

I LOVE the lamp in this set and the colours aren't too bad either : https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...7-little-bria/

    SO,

Tell me people, of these three sets which do you prefer and why??

Love, love, love the really pink one with the spotty mat and daisy wall decos.
It's colourful but not too full on and you could pick up a number of those shades in the quilt - the lovely sage green would be a lovely highlight colour.
I was going to suggest a coloured rug for the middle of your floor, something to break up the big white wall - a gorgeous handmade quilt or something, or something hanging from the ceiling to add some colour.....or perhaps a dado rail around the base of the wall with a different colour. That lovely sage green as a feature colour at the base of the wall would be nice.

Mostly just thinking outloud there, don't know if it's much help!

    Thanks ladies

Em - Little Bria is very sweet and the colour is a very good reason for Choosing it

Ausgirl - Yeah I love the decals of the Little Bria set too, you CAN actually buy them separately from Living textiles too so I could create a lovely wall border with them. And because they are a high and low design it would fill the wall up more ITMS ??

Thanks again ladies - please keep opinions etc coming in thick and fast x x x

I love purple, but the sugar plum one is so, so- it doesn't really stand out much at all. I think with the white walls, it would be even more washed out.

I love the colours in Berry Garden! Vibrant and full of character, will bring colour without having to paint.

Little Bria is too pink for me, but i do like the wall sticker designs.

I think the purple one would look so beautiful in that room.

I'm a big fan of the berry garden it's GORGEOUS!! I the design is really pretty with the bold bright pink flowers and that green colour gives it so much depth so it's not too wishy washy or plain. I found the last pink one a little too pale and the colours just didn't seem to contrast and complement each other as much IMO and the purple set was lovely but very very simplistic and plain.

But all in all a very nice bunch!

    Good luck!!

I love your first choice - berry garden - its just gorgeous. I think because its quite a large room with high ceilings etc the brighter colours will fill it in more and make the room more cosy and inviting. Its really lovely and btw I think the little horse in the bottom left of one of the pics is soooooooo cute

I love the berry garden one - I felt so happy when the picture launched! I think you need a rug on floor too

The little Bria set.....but that may be because I'm seriously over Strawberry Shortcake this weekend lol and that's what the third one reminds me of.

Little Bria is cheerier and funner.

I have whole Berry Garden set but my lamp is from Little Bria. They go very well together because of the pinks and the butterflies. I didn't really like the Berry Garden lamp. I then have a pink change mat cover and cot blanket that match the pink on the Berry Garden quilt cover (its really soft and is a raised bumpy material)

Is it bad to say I don't like any of them? It isn't that I don't like them, per se, just that none of them grab me, but this is my personal opinion and feel free to disregard

I'm getting more of a woodland/fae vibe for the nursery. Love the lime green on the wall of the berry garden.

I'm a bit biased and like the Berry Garden set - we got this one for DD. I'd show you pics all put up but we haven't got that far yet. Ours will look a bit different to the picture anyway cos we aren't going the same theme as in we aren't painting the walls green - we will have whitish walls and i have bought a net also for the cot and i might just get bubs name put on the wall in those wooden letters maybe in a lighter pale pink would look nice.

Berry Garden but I'm biased, we have that in DD's nursery I just love the hot pink and lime green (It looks awesome with our chocolate nursery furniture), so much so I'll be using those colours in her new 'big girl' room

I didn't buy the whole set though, just the bed cover and the nappy stacker. I already had hot pink sheets (from
Target) and I got a hot pink lamp from Kmart. Her name is on the wall in green wooden letters which my mum hand painted for me - they're gorgeous. We are about to demolish the house we are in now to build so I didn't want to go to nuts on her room but it was ironically lime green when we bought the place so it all matches well anyway.

I think all 3 are pretty in their own way. I think what may harm the effect is the dark wood. This is just my opinion. If you look at all 3, the sugar plum set is with dark wood, the other 2 are with white. The sugar plum set sinks into the dark, the other two seem to stand out. The white furniture helps make the room feel light and bright.

Given you are most likely going to keep the dark wood, I'd use lighter colours/hues more. The Bria would go well. The Berry Garden has lots of white but the berries seem dark. Are you able to buy a small hand towel or pillow case for each and see what they look like in the room? Can you paint the room?

One of my favourite sites to drool over is Posh Tots. Expensive etc, but gives great ideas of themes.
We have honey coloured furniture as I didnt want to buy white. I've now decided white would have been easier to coordinate with but I can't tell DH that

Firstly I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your input

Tashy - excellent idea of buying a towel or something to trial the look with the dark timber.

Sopdet - hmmmmm another fairy room ?? I love DD's room, the colours from those stickers are gorgeous. I haven't seen any other "feminine" themes in the linen that I liked. Woodland would be great if I could get it looking girly without going OTT girly ...... particularly with what we're naming the little tummybunny

Without seeing the rest of the house its really hard to imagine but white or lighter coloured furniture doesn't match hence the reason for going with a darker timber in the first place (I tried it). We have really old cupbaords in all the rooms that are stained which (despite their ugliness) show the changes made by each generation (3rd put in the cupboards) that has lived here and I have been told that they are NOT to be painted making it harder again to find furnishings to match.

The room is actually the 2nd darkest room in the entire house as it only has the one window which faces East. Originally it had colour on the wall (light mauve) which seemed to make the room darker still. We won't be using coloured paint on the walls again but rather add colour in the way of wall decorations ..... partly because there is no way in hell I am going up and down a ladder with 11ft ceilings while I am pregnant (dh is far to busy to do any painting) and partly due to the bad light

This is the brightest the room gets in natural light https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...natural-light/

The bed linen will eventually change too depending on what the girls want in their rooms I kept an Ivory/cream theme in both rooms as I didn't know what the girls will like.

    Anyhoo I am rambling ........

PLease please keep suggestions and ideas, likes and dslikes etc coming because EVERY opinion offers a different perspective and people have highlighted things I haven't thought about.

We have chocolate nursery furniture (which looks awesome with the Berry Garden set I might add ) but I wish I'd got white furniture now. And like you Tash, I can't tell DH that either!! I did casually ask DH if he wanted to repaint all the nursery furniture white for the new baby given we have to sand the cot a bit anyway (due to DD gnawing the sides!) but he basically told me to bugger off, LOL. I've gone for white for DD's big girl furniture though so I'll live the dream through her new room!
