Ideas for what to wear to my engagement party?!

Ok ladies - so I've found out the hard way that it's true that you pack on the pounds when you settle down and are happy in a new relationship - I have put on over 15kgs in the last 6 months!!! *faint*

My engagement party is in 3 weeks and although I've thought about it I'm not prepared to go on a crazy crash diet to loose weight before then - There is already enough to worry about!!

I've never been this weight before and lately have just been making do with what I've owned since before I put the weight on - but I want something new and flattering to wear at my engagement party - and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with styles of dresses that might work well.

I have an hour glass figure that is basically a size 14 all over except that I'm very top heavy. Ideally i want something that makes me look a size 10 again (lol denial setting in!) and that's good for an afternoon/evening outside in spring!

I know there are certain styles that suit different body shapes and am just hoping to get some ideas before I start looking. Any ideas?

I would appreciate some help so much!

With an hourglass figure then I would suggest a waist hugging dress 50's swing dress and killer heels. Something like this http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...Xgxp6DxAYP0cml. Very flattering for your boobs and will disguise any extra weight on your thighs and bum whilst bringing attention to your waist.

Thanks so much for the idea traveller - I'm not sure I could pull that one off lol. I read up about styles last night and am off today to have a look what's out there.

Fingers crossed I find something that's not too bad! It's so hard to be happy with something when I expect myself to look a completely different size in the mirror lol

    Love Travellers suggestion!
Just remember to flatter / enhance your best assets - and be honest, whilst you have put on weight, you still have best assets, albeit a little more curvy!

Thanks RhiChiChi - I think the extra curviness is what makes clothes shopping for me so hard at the moment lol but thanks I'll keep telling myself to be nice to my reflection lol

A nice wrap dress would work well (and will still look good if/when you lose the weight)
Also maybe think about a skirt and top - easier to find that will fit. (Allanah hill is good or Review on less of a budget)
    High heels a must!
go and get your makeup done - even get it done at a counter before you try on the clothes - always good to feel good about yourself when shopping for a special occasion!

    Thanks ladies!

I'm going tomorrow - got caught up planning the party instead lol.

I love the idea of a wrap dress! I have one already that I like but it's completely black and I really want something bright and spring-ish

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll let you all know how I go!
