    20 year plan

I am only at the end of my first year of my undergraduate degree but I have in place a 20 year plan which reads something like this:

Finish my degree in 3 more years
Have a couple of years off studying to practice as a midwife
Go back to uni part time for 3 years and gain my masters in research in the field of midwifery
Have a couple of years off studying, hopefully to start gaining lecturing experience as well as practising as a midwife
Go back to uni part time for 8 years to gain a doctorate in midwifery.

I should get this all finished in 18 years After that I don't know, but I figure if you can have a Welsh prime minister then maybe you could have a Scottish minister for health

Has anyone else got a very long range plan for their studying and career or am I the only one who overthinks things like this?

No, you're not the only one who over thinks things LOL. I will finish my undergrad degree in three more years as well, then I'm thinking of doing a post-grad degree in speech pathology as well. I figure it will get me more work in the area because we have a dire need for it. I also have a personal interest in it as well.

Well, after a sum total of seven years of undergrad study (chopped up and sprinkled across a number of years, degrees and states) I am now only 3 more years away from actually graduatin'. LOL So I admire the clarity of your plan right down to the bottom of my toesies.

In fact, if it wasn't for the excellent credit and 100% workplace relevance of my current course, I would love to be doing a different degree altogether - but in three years time when this one is under my belt and I'm being handsomely renumerated for my efforts I'll be free to pursue whatever path I want to then.

At this stage I will finish my undergrad (Bach. Ed.) in 2 years time, I then plan to do my Masters of Special Needs Teaching and once I've done that I'll see what my options for further study are, maybe some study in the admin side of teaching. Time will tell.

    Crikey what a plan!!

After doing 3 years of nursing, 1 year midwifery and now 2 years as part time of MCHN. I am NEVER doing another degree!!!! I will do the immunisation course as its a pre req for where I will be working but that's short!!

I am over study and will have 3 different areas that I can work in!

Currently studying undergrad degree to become a proper (instead of a defacto) librarian. Have since discovered that local universities really and troolly do hand out degrees in creative writing (!). Luckily there are plenty of workshops and events full of interesting people to meet so I'm still learning even if I never do formal study in that area. Plus I've always fancied I will end up teaching in the VET sector. So there are some post-grad study opportunities as well as other diplomas and things I could pursue once I finally decide what I'm gonna be when I grow up .
