    Ideal time to start?

I still have a few months before we can begin BLW but my MCHN is pushing me to start purees at 4 months for the allergy/intolerance factor (we have no history of allergies or intolerances on either side of the family if it's at all relevant).

I did purees from 4 months with DD1. We started purees with DD2 around 5 months but she began teething and went off food completely. We let the stage pass and she only wanted something to chew on so we unknowingly did BLW with her. Not sure how to start it off exactly! TIA.

We started BLS at 6 months, but DD didn't really get into it til 8 months. Now, she eats anything and has awesome hand skills. I will be doing BLS with the next bub too.

We did bls with dd and will bs with this bub too. We started at 5 months with dd....it's recommended that you wait until 6 months or the child is at least sitting unassisted. Showing animterest in food isn't enough. I know it might seem strange to delay starting solids as logically you think you'll be putting the baby behind but in all reality, blw/bls kids often end up eating much better, a wider variety and range of foods earlier on. My dd can use a fork and spoon at 16 months, will try all foods at least once and her general co-ordination for hand/eye seems to be advanced and I put this down to bls. I'm a big fan
