my friend had a little girl in April this year and named her Bailey (traditional spelling)

I'm assuming you want to change the spelling to make it more girly?

How will the alternative spelling benefit the child?

One of our little girls middle names is Bailey, traditional spelling as it's a family name, I do like Baylee as well though..

Not a huge fan of the name myself sorry. Unusual spelling will mean people get it wrong their whole life. But each to their own!

I think it depends on how you want her name pronounced. If you want it pronounced in the traditional way, I would spell it Bailey.

If you want it pronounced Bay- Lee, then go with Baylee. I prefer Bailey.

Yes. That question should be in big bold letters at the top of this forum.

I really like the name but prefer the traditional spelling. I've never been a fan of changing the spelling of a name, it seems to be a bit of a fad at the moment.

I really like the name for a little girl, but TBH I think those spellings actually make the name look more harsh and masculine. Sorry.

bailea is nice. and timeless. you could grow old with bailea, but baylee (which I read as bayleaf) and bayley (which I read as barley on first glance) don't seem timeless and are a bit awkward.

Ultimately though, the name you choose will be the right one. "a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet"...

I prefer the traditional Bailey too, sorry I just don't think I like the other spellings for it. Nor do I like bailea only because it has the option of becoming Bai - Lee - Ah with the A ending.

Its a cute name - would never have thought to use it for a girl but I think its really sweet.
