Late onset OHSS??? Or gas??? :)

    Hi

I am 9dp2dt (two embryos) and have been very bloated for about 5 or 6 days. I have put on about 2 1/2 kilos since the weekend and my upper abdomen is rock hard. I feel very gassy and gurgly and (sorry, TMI) I have had diarrheoa for over a week.

My clinic thinks I may have mild late onset OHSS. I have never had it before so I have nothing to compare it to.

I have no real pain (just uncomfortable as I look six months preggers, my stomach is so distended), I am not nauseous but it feels like I have eaten a massive dinner and it is just sitting there iykwim.

To people who had post-transfer OHSS, how did it start for you? Did you have these symptoms?

I would be so embarrassed if it is just wind

    Thanks!

PS I only had 12 follies and three mature eggs so it is surprising this has developed (if it has!)

OHSS can be very mild and get much worse when a pregnancy takes - so it is possible to kick in late and cause dramas like that with a positive reason behind it!

i had it with each pregnancy - and still had swollen ovaries at 13week scan with DD. i only had one dominant follicle for that IUI cycle... it's not about how many follies - it's about the hormone levels in your body

^^ same for me I've had four collections, and this was the only time that I ended up with bloating and cramps. Hopefully it's a good sign for you fx!

The weight gain in particular has me thinking OHSS... I had it really badly with my first two cycles and couldn't transfer. It gets worse with pregnancy. My third cycle I was well enough to have a transfer, but I still developed OHSS - this time it set in when the embryo implanted. I woke up on the morning of my blood test and had to go up a size in clothing because I was so bloated. By the time the OHSS bloating went down, the baby bump was taking over. If it was just gas, I wouldn't expect that much of an increase in weight.

All I can suggest is rest as much as you can. If it is OHSS associated with a pregnancy, you can look forward to it not really going away for a few weeks.
