    Washing woolen (crochet) blanket

DD has a gorgeous crocheted woolen blanket and i want to give it a wash. Can i do it in the washing machine, or does it need to be hand washed?

    What washing powder/juice is best?

    please excuse my ineptitude.

Is it wool or is it synthetic version? DD has a crocheted blanket that my mum made out of baby wool but it's not real wool an I just put it on a wool wash setting on the washing machine and used my regular washing powder.

If it's really spesh, handwash in lukewarm water. If it seems fairly robust you could probably get away with a warm or cool wash on a gentle or wool cycle. You can put it inside a pillowcase to stop pilling. Also lay it out flat to dry as hanging can pull them out of shape.

I tend to stuff things if I hand wash. I have had great success putting the item in a hosiery bag, put it on the specific wook cycle and using a decent wool wash.
