Question What's going on with my menses?

For about 18m, my periods were about every ~30 days lasting about 5 days, last 2-3 days light flow. Perfectly normal for me, although a bit short cycles.

August, I was a week late, 3-day period. Exactly 4w cycle then 2-day period. Now I've had a 30-day cycle and a 24-hour period. I didn't loose loads of blood either - bright red, maybe a normal day's flow. TBH, it was more like an 8-hour period with a bit of a tail. And NO WARNING it was about to appear, which didn't impress me that much: I normally get spotting a day or two beforehand and backache so I can be prepared.

What's going on with my body? Anyone want to give it a stab? Is this normal?

Sounds like your lining is low. Are you on any hormone-based contraceptives? Otherwise, I'd say your hormones fluctuating.

Nope, been off the minipill over two years now. No major diet changes either.

Hormones flucutation? So... menopause? See, I told DH we needed to get a move on with the baby thing YEARS ago.

Hahahaha... No, probably just normal fluctuations, I'd say (in my completely uneducated opinion). Our bodies mess us around, I noticed I wasn't at all as 'regular' and predictable as I always thought I had been when I started tracking and paying attention (getting ready to TTC). I guess nature keeps us guessing so that we can't avoid pg by just timing and calendar alone.

LOL, I've been tracking since I stopped the minipill just so I'd know when to expect my menses! Nothing to do with TTC (yet), I just need to know when to put the mooncup in my bag.

You crack me up hun! I'm in a similar boat too, my AF has gone crazy in the last few months (actually since DS was born..). I used to have very very regular 29 day cycle, AF lasting 4 -5 days, sore BB's a week prior to it, migrane a day before and very sore back. Spotting for the fists day or two then full red AF for 2 days then lighter one for another 2 days. This has been the norm since forever. Now, I have little warning too, AF lasts, for wait for it, 2 days!!!!! first day heavy, next day hardly anything. Cycles have been all over the shop, ranging from 31 days to 26 days. The last 3 cycles have been 26 days. I said that same to my DF, I think I'm menopausal, we should get cracking on the baby making!!!! Hope you work out what's happening to you hun

If you had said you were ttc, I'd tell you to POAS, but since you have said you are not, I have no idea!

As you get older your cycles and periods change - mine have been all over the place the past 12 months. If you think there is a problem I would get it check out, otherwise just keep charting and paying attention to your cycles and see what happens.

Just to update you all - a week later, I'm getting 1-2 spots a day of very brown blood.

Still no pain though, so can't be too much of a problem. I just don't like change. (Trill, I didn't think I was getting that old!)

TFB, I'm not that older too and I'm entering that phase as well. It can start in the early-mid 30's, but I don't think you are that old though?

Thank you! I'm 30, so I suppose that's old enough, right?

Right, I thought I'd bump this just to make my period arrive.

5 week cycle, which is now long, although not out of the question (looks like I had a 36-37day cycle in August... hope things are getting longer!). I started my pre-period spotting on Tuesday, this is a teeny tiny amount of blood loss 2 days before my period arrives. Weds nothing. That means period should have arrived Thurs. On Thurs I had post-period spotting (proper spotting). Also, no pain. But loads of facial spots in the last 2 weeks.

Not impressed. Any clues? Just getting old still?
