    Organisation

Why can't I be good at it and stay on top of things?!

I am in the middle of a MASSIVE declutter as we are moving house in a few weeks and it's killing me. I have my Honors in Procrastination which doesn't help either, so things take me twice as long. I kid you not though, I have been cleaning out a double overhead cupboard since 2pm It is our medicine cabinet and also has paperwork, bills, prescriptions, takeaway menus etc and it's a hot mess!!

I always have good intentions and it always turns to c***.

How do you organise things etc? I know it's a bit of a general question but keen to hear anything you've got

I do about as well as you I think. But I did just buy a nice looking basket thing with a lid and put all the paper work etc that had been sitting on the buffet into it. So not exactly organised as such but looks a whole lot better. I de cluttered all my kitchen cupboards a while back and got some plastic drawer type things that I put inside the double overhead cupboard for all the medications, prescriptions band aids and stuff. That seems to have kept it pretty well so far. I also have a plastic tub that has all the dish washing liquid and general cleaning stuff in up in the same cupboard, away from little hands, and that's worked well.

I am yet to get to my wardrobe

I have quite a few storage boxes etc which work quite well. Easier to access things and store them away.
I think I need to get more though and I think (well I know) I need to have cleanouts more regularly. I'm still going on the bloomin' cupboard. I'm going to bootcamp in an hour and I am zapped and want to curl up in a ball Too bad DH won't let me.

LOL good luck But imagine how good you're going to feel when the cupboard is done! I kept going past and opening it just to have a look for about 3 days after I did mine

Eeek. I sympathise. I have a pile of paperwork sitting right next to me that I have been contemplating for days now. Every now & then I restack it so it looks a bit tidier.

I don't mind the idea of putting it away, just that I know how jampacked the filing drawer is...

How do people do it? When I go to visit other people I don't see piles of stuff sitting around. Where is it all?

Go to the library and borrow "Organising for Dummies". Yes, there really is such a book, and it has lots of good points in it. Good luck!

OK, so I will admit to being one of those people. I cannot stand clutter in my house, but TBH I never notice it in other people's houses.

I have a couple of philsophies.
Do it now - filing I do as I get it, be it pay a bill or filing it. Junk mail I usually read at the front door and bin it before it makes a mess. If I see a pile I deal with it when I have 5 seconds.
If we don't need it, we don't need it - my only exception is my arty crafty maker DD...her room and desk make me want to cry lol. Every few months there's a clear out. We have moved 5 times in as many years though so I'm kinda expert at it lol.
Have a place for everything - if it doesn't have a place either make one or prioritise something else to ditch and give it a home

I do have one drawer in the kitchen that's for random things though.

I feel so much better now! I just go in rummage for some clothes then dash out and shut the door so I can't see the chaos I have 2weeks off and it is one job I want to get to. I am hopeful for success now that I have a not so constantly velcro baby any more. I will however need to find huge amounts of motivation

I have three bowls for random stuff

I know that's part of the problem, I have so much stuff but it's stuff I need. I think. I go to my sister's and she is so uncluttered..... but she has one salad bowl. I have five..... erm, glass ones... and six plastic....
