    Shoes

What kind of shoes do you wear?

I have been getting around in sneakers, a pair of low heels for special or work and my uggs in winter. However I have decided I want a pair of shoes, leather shoes I guess? flats to wear. Something that isnt sneakers!
I have teribble shoe fashion (I wear pink etnies) and most shoes here have fake diamanties ALL over them. So ladies, tell me, what do you wear? whats great and whats not?

I'm a believer in buying quality. Like most things, you get what you pay for. Depending on your lifestyle, comfort can be important too. I have some kickin' shoes I havent worn in ages because they murder my feet every time i wear them. They look good though. I just know I'm taking a cab if I ever wear them. Still, there's nothing like red patent leather stilettos

Shoes should look good and make you feel good. Red shoes are a must. I have 2 pairs of red sandals, both comfortable but look great. I also have red suede walking shoes, which would be dull except they're red. I wore them to death when I was pregnant, with SPD as i could just slip them on. I have too many black shoes but they go with most things.

Boots are also important. At least one pair of back boots. Brown is acceptable if they suit your colouring (I dont wear brown). Red would be even better I havent found any yet. I prefer knee high boots as they can make the leg look slim, so long as they're not those ruffled looking ones or covered in buckles.

The toe is important. Try different ones to see which suit you best and you can wear for hours. The pointy toe was very fashionable years ago. i now prefer a round toe. less likely to get scuffed and look cheap.

i personally hate the gladiator type shoe/sandal. They cut the line of the leg at the ankle, making the leg look fat and the ankle bulky. Depending on your legs, you may be able to get away with it. I dont even try. With any shoe, check the line of the leg. Mary janes can also cut the line making feet look wider. They can also look a bit girly. Like all fashion, different styles suit different age groups best. Different styles suit different people. I'm not a ruffle kind of girl. I like simple lines etc, so I wont buy things covered in bows and frills. others prefer that kind of thing.

You may want too match your handbag. So if you're wearing black shoes, use a black handbag, etc. Also, check out pictures of the royal women wearing suits. Note the use of neutral shoes, such as beige, with neutral hose. having the shoes the same colour as the hose makes the leg look longer. Personally, I dont wear beige, so if i'm wearing a suit skirt, I'll wear darker hose to keep the line with the shoes.

Clear heels are only to be used when pole dancing.

Fantastic post LionsandBears! love your work!

Regards to the leather thing OP, there seems to be two camps..
Camp 1 contains people like my Mum who don't buy anything but leather and consider it a mark of quality
Camp 2 contains vegans/hippie/eco lovers who won't buy shoes made from animal products

*shrugs* I sell both types, and I don't mind either way for myself personally.

If you haven't worn heels for a while, maybe try a nice wedge? Great for summer and easier to walk in

I have long feet (size 40-41) so I have NEVER been a fan of white shoes. Tried on a pair of white sneakers once, had to go to a size 11 all you looked at where these HUGE feet, my bestie was needless to say I didnt buy them. Kinda got put off shoes after that
