Reccomend me a soft structured carrier

    Hi,

I'm after a soft structured full buckle carrier suitable from newborn to toddler (my babies tend to be on the larger side at birth). I am currently using a mei tai carrier (envirobaby) which is good, but can be hard to get the straps straight and it isn't super for the toddler back carry.

I know the ergo is the most popular out there but I'm happy to consider other options. I need a relatively large waist belt - I'm a size 18.

What do you have and why do you like it?

    TIA

Have you looked into the Beco ones? I have one but haven't yet used it (waiting for the baby to arrive!). From memory they have large waist belts.

Yes, I'm keen on the beco butterfly 2 but I haven't heard from anyone who used one with a baby in it. It seems like a pretty good one though. Thanks Suprised - when are you due, you don't have a ticker?

Not sure how tall you are but I found the ergo too long in the body for me. I ended up making a Mei tei to get a good fit.
Are you on FB? There's a few good baby wearing groups where people could give you advice on lots of different carriers.

A friend of mine loves her Ergo and got the Beco recently. She found it didn't adjust as easily as the Ergo, so maybe see if you can try one before you buy it?

I've only just got my ergo, so can't tell you about a newborn in it, but I love it for my toddler. I also have a catbirdbaby pikkolo, which I loved until DS, was about the one year mark. I just found it tricky to get him in a back carry. But it was great for forward facing. The bit where they're bum sits can be cinched in (iykwim) so that you can get a good fit when they are little. DH still wears either DS or DD in it on his back. You can get a belt to go round the bottom to make it similar to an ergo for toddlers, otherwise I think they call it an apron style?

I love our ergo SOOO much! We recently got a Boba carrier for our older son and I wish we'd just gotten a second ergo. They are so well made.

I have a Baby trekker (also called an octupus carrier) and it was amazing. Super easy to put on, VERY comfortable, and I used it for my daughter from Birth-15m. She can still fit it I just prefer to use a stroller now.

A belly/baby buddy of mine recommends angelpack carriers.
I love my Ergo and for whoever said about height i'm only 159cm and it works okay on me.
I have the sport model with the larger waist as well.
