Menstrual cramps help

Hi everybody! I have very painful menstrual cramps. My doctor recommended me contraceptives for this. I start taking this medications but i had stomach pain from them. So i stopped using them and now my doctor told to take NSAIDs for my pain. I dont know what to do because i read that this drugs have lots of side effects. Can someone give me an advice regarding this medicine?
