meditation & getting to know unborn bub

I was tossing up between putting this in her or in the spirituality part of the fourms, but thought here might get more view/replies.

Basically I am looking to do some meditation specifically aimed at pregnancy and my unborn bub. I have a baby magic book which has one in it where you can 'meet' your bubs spirit, involving walking along the beach, rowing to a cave and sitting in the cave where they are waiting. but its not really working for me.

does anyone know of any guided meditations that can help me bond with my bub, not ness. meet its spirit or anything, but to become more intune with my body and baby and he/she grows. I'm also hoping this will then lead into labour preparation etc.. in a few months.

    TIA!!

What a great idea! I'd love to try something like this too - are the ones your trying now a guided meditation?

I've always found meditation works better for me when I focus on parts of my body or certain words instead of a visualization. Can I get the name of it from you?

This sounds like a brilliant idea! Thank you so much for raising it as I probably desperately need it with my surprise bundly on the way.

I'll have a look through my hypnobirthing resources and see if there is anything in there to help bond and get back to you

ok, I totally misread that as being "mediation" not "meditation" ...

um, DH and I pray out loud with Ziggy, and we both chat and read to ziggy.

not meditating per say, just concerted efforts to communicate and bond, and get used to each other

    not sure if that helps!

I wouldn't do the cave spirit walk cos i would worry about projecting too much on what the child will be rather than hearing from them who they are.

Most of my 'bonding' happens after bub is here.

Great thread! I use visualisation. Either sit or lie down (I do it in the bath as I'm most relaxed there, but if you easily get into deep meditation probably not such a good idea! ) Do some gentle deep breathing and concentrate your thoughts inwards ( stop trying to listen to sounds, close eyes, shut the outside world off). place hands on belly and think about bub. start with the toes, visualise the size, colour, how would they feel? then move on upwards (mentally), slowly visualising each part of bub. Imagine the blood flowing through the umbilical cord between the two of you. How must it feel to be submerged in the warm amniotic fluid? Imagine the filtered light shining onto bub from outside your body. try to visualise the sounds of your heartbeat, stomach rumblings, your voice - how does bub hear it? What is he/she thinking? Communicate with bub by thinking of your thoughts and wishes for him/her. Tell him/her how much you love them and want to meet them, your hopes for him/her, what things you will do together. Get in tune with how bub might be feeling. Warm, fuzzy, weightless, jumping around in the safe warm haven. Sing, hum to bub if you want.
HTH. Connecting with bub is beautiful. Good luck hun.

I used guided meditation as part of my hypnobabies course (home study - you buy online).

I also had a reiki session when we knew DS2 was sick and I learnt a lot about our little bear cub then. I still cherish that memory. That was somewhat guided by the rieki practitioner.

I did hypnobirthing and they have a guided rainbow meditation but as my dh is an NLP master practitioner he adapted it specifically for bub and I and changed heaps of words etc. I wanted a water birth so I listened to it almost daily in the bath. I got my amazing water birth too and felt very in tune with bub and my body

Bumping this, as Ive been thinking about it heaps, I've been doing some deep breathing exercises and focusing etc.. I'm actually really interested in Calmbirth and things assossicated, but unfortuantly we can't afford to do the program at all =( so was hoping to develop some techniques by myself.
Oh and my reiki chick doesn't work there anymore =( (she is also a sports massage person, and I met her when she was fixing a few of my ailments, so never got an offical reiki session, just part of one through the massage).
