    Bike pants and dresses

Okay, now this is super embarrassing, but here I go! I like wearing dresses - I think I look pretty good in a nice maxi dress as I am reasonably tall. But... I am on the larger side and when it is hot in summer my thighs get all sweaty and I pretty quickly end up with a nasty rash I've tried baby power and no sweat powder, but they don't really work for long periods.

So in winter I have been wearing leggings under dresses, particularly shorter dresses. But now it is summer I have been thinking perhaps I should wear a pair of bike pants (ie. shorter than the knee leggings) under my summer dresses.

Just how weird would that be? If you happened to get a glance of my bike pants while I was sitting on the floor etc, would you think I was a nutter? Or have some horribly embarrassing medical problem?

I really do need to know if that is too odd. My friends tell me that I am addicted to comfortable and casual clothes and I'm not that fashionable to start with. What do you think?

Good idea - we always wore bike pants at high school under our (knee length) skirts to stop the boys looking up our skirts (apparently!)

If its going to stop any chafing I say go for it - it's so uncomfortable in summer! I usually wear those spanks pants - the ones that are meant to suck everything in. They do the same thing but not as comfortable as the bike pants will be

Whew! I am glad at least two people don't think I am crazy. It just seems like such a fashion crime!

i don't think it can count as a fashion crime if no one can see it! i've done it before when wearing skirts - something like those spanks ones (just can't remember which brand) but bike shorts would do the trick nicely.

    i say go for it!

I do this! I have a pair of undies nicknamed my 'big mumma pants' lol. They resemble bikepants, and suck in my c/s scar flappy tummy. It's not a crime at all. I thought I was pretty clever lol.

I use "3B Action Cream" where I'm prone to chaffing and it's MAGIC!!! I used to get awful chafe between my (very generous) thighs to the point of bleeding but if I put this on on the morning, no probs at all!!! Even on really hot days!!! You get it at the chemist...can you tell I LOVE this stuff!

I've been known to do this, you just have be careful sometimes cos if the bike pants are fairly cottony sometimes they're a bit 'grabby' so the dress doesn't flow quite as well as it might.

While we're on the (TMI) topic of chafing, etc, I've used cornstarch powder with pretty good results, I keep a tiny shaker of it in my handbag for longer wearing. I've also just realised that you can use antiperspirant products in places other than your underarms. This is a recent concept for me... who knew? It's like a revelation. So I'll be testing that out a bit mroe in the thigh-al region as the weather hots up.

Or I might just try the 3B stuff.

    what does the cream do?

does it stop the sweat, or the rubbing, or the chaffing itself?

I seem to perspire a little more when UTD ... makes the gym interesting ...

I always wear bike shorts when wearing skirts or dresses and have done so for years even in winter (too much walking around school any time of the year chaffs here)

See, now I'm starting to get cranky. CLEARLY there is an entire fashion subculture of bikepant-under-dress wearing zaftig ladies, and yet NOBODY has thought to design a range of underwear for this purpose - designed for comfort with cool-wear fabric (cos those bikies can get pretty hot) in a range of fashion-friendly or discreet colours?!!

I have no idea how it works, but it does
