Roomba/iRobot - any experiences?

So I am looking at getting a robovac as a belated 30th birthday present seems hubby didn't bother to get me anything.
I've not heard a lot of good feedback about the robomaid's but have seen the iRobot 530 on sale for $379 which is affordable. I can't warrant spending much more as I do have a good Miele vacuum and mainly want the robovac for our enormous living area and kitchen which is floating floors and vinyl because I hate the time it takes to do the whole area myself, lol. Lazy much?

Any advice or experiences?

My parents have one, not sure what brabd it is tho but ots pretty cool does their carpet and slate and doesnt make a noise they just lock it in a room abd come back later and its done.
