Nah I agree with you - it's too expensive for me!
Far out I went along to a Tupperware party today to support a friend and because I've been wanting to get some as I know it's good stuff but far out the prices are RIDICULOUS$60 for a can opener! $43 for a Garlic Crusher! Are they for real?!? I'd want them to take batteries and vibrate too for that price
Even the containers are insanely priced, $60 for 5 small snack size containers. Now I know the brand has been around since the dinosaurs and it's nice to know you can trust a container not to leak and to last for years and years but does it really need to be that expensive? I would have happily of spent a couple hundred bucks today but I'm not happy to walk away with hardly anything for my money. There are other containers out there, ones that don't cost a fortune and that I've had for years without any drama of breaking/cracking/leaking. Does anyone else share this view of Tupperware or am I just a tight a$$?
Nah I agree with you - it's too expensive for me!
Yep they are expensive.
But they are covered by a lifetime guarantee. And they last forEVER just about. I am using some of mum's old Tupperware that she used for 30 years, still going strong. And if/when it gives up the ghost, I can take it to my local rep and they will replace it free with the current equivalent product.
Plus, those can openers are the bomb.
Having said all of that, for everyday fridge/freezer storage for left overs and the like, I use Sistema. My pantry etc though is totally Tupperware. Love it.
I have a friend who raves about the fridge containers from Tupperware but I just can't justify the cost!
I totally agree with you - there are other brands that are just as good that are not to expensive. I don't know why people like them so much lol

I recently went to one of the parties and nearly died at the prices!
WHO would pay $60 for a salad spinner!???????? I certainly wouldn't. I bought DH a thermo mug for work out of guilt that I didn't buy anything. And even that was $30!![]()
It is incredibly expensive, that's why I have parties to buy stuff... lol I don't any other time.
I have some items that I absolutely love and think they're worth the $$$ - the peeler is awesome!!! - but then I draw the line at other items (modular mates pantry items).
This was in part because of price and also because I found the sizes I needed didn't stack neatly in my cupboard.
But peeler, slice and store etc are excellent.
I also have a Tupperware consultant that often sells off her ex-demo items for a significantly reduced price.
And sometimes Ebay has good prices!![]()
I'm with LimeSlice - I justify it for the lifetime guarantee. I inherited my MIL old tupperware bake n' store containers & the lid went funny & they gave me a whole brand new one! I do have other plastic containers but I really love Tupperware
I love my tupperwear, but YES its costly. I even held a party or 2 so I can get it a bit cheaper. I love my lunch/microwave containers that I reheat everything in.
I lurve my Tupperware. I had a friend who did demos so I had lots of parties for her and saved myself a bundle. I also wait for specials so I'm not paying too much.

our pantry is decked out in tupperware - yeah, it's more exxy, but, personally, i felt it was worth the extra. we had other brands, but getting them to fit together to stack up etc was just too damn hard, so we ditched the lot and went with tupperware
i knew i was doing a big BIG order, so i got my trusty BB tupperware rep, found out when modular mates were on special, and ordered that way - i put together a couple of smaller parties to get extra freebies. yup, cost a small fortune, but our pantry is awesome and easy to find almost everything (if the poppet left the tin food where it should be, it would be easier!)
i do agree that for some uses, it's pointless. when DH was working away, i wasn't sending good tupperware to get lost (damage is replacable, loss isn't!) so we do have some of the cheaper containers. and when i go to work, i only use cheap stuff in case it goes walkies. but for everything else, it's tupperware all the way.
i managed to replace a lot of stuff i'd inherited from my nan with more recent stuff, which was fantastic too! yeah, it didn't end up being one for one replacement, as some of it was damaged due to stupidity (boys and hot stuff don't go together) but we still sent it back, and got a heap of the newer microwave stuff to replace it.
I think they price things higher so that people who want the premium thing need to have parties to get the stuff they want.
The lifetime guarantee ain't worth squat - once you get past a certain age, and your thing breaks, the replacement item never matches the original colour. So basically, you pay big $$ to have a matching set in the colour you want but then when it wears out tough tits.
That's not to say I don't buy Tupperware. I think some items have value and last well, but I"m very selective in what I buy. Ebay is good too.
Sometimes I think half the Tupperware is ending up with a random mix of colours! Perhaps the history of it being passed down...
I love opening my mum's Tupperware drawer and seeing the new bright colours mixed with the army greens and pumpkin oranges
Another sneaky trick is to keep an eye out at garage sales. Mum has picked up a few cracked items cheaply and then had the busted bits replaced if needed.
Totally Kimbles!
I got a whole whack of stuff from a lovely lady having a garage sale - she and her husband were selling literally everything they owned to fund their travels in the caravan. Gold mine! lol
I do only buy black Modular Mates though for the reasons MD mentions. They match all my appliances which are black or silver (OCD much?)
I think the colour thing is cheesy lol
I went to a Tupperware part recently and one of the guests asked the demonstrator if the plastic was BPA-free, and the demonstrator didn't know. Does anyone here know?
I agree cherished, most of it is over-priced. I do have one of the garlic crushers though- my MIL bought it for me. It is pretty efficient. But I would never have bought it myself.
Yes, Tupperware contains BPA. Their toys do not.
