    SAHM Clothes Vent

I swear my life was much simpler when I went to the gym (for all of a week ) and I just wore trackies, top and sneakers. But I can't bring myself to wear those if I'm not going to the gym and my back is v dodgy so I can't go for a while.

Jeans annoy me around the house because I do a lot of bending and they're forever falling down a bit. Plus if I wear them with a tight tee, I get a muffin top.

So I started wearing super comfy cargoes with elasticated waist. Not the most stylish but hey, no falling down pants or muffin top problem. All good. Except what top to go with them? I need something more than a tank and preferably something with a longer sleeve than a tee (it's bloody cold here most of the time) but the only sleeved tops in town are floppy and shapeless. Cargo bottoms and floppy tops are not the most flattering - bit too shapeless.

What do you wear around the house and with cargoes?

    Tshirt with a cardigan.
    Fitted light cotton jumpers
    Blouses
Belt around longer, baggy long-sleeved Ts can give them shape

What's wrong with dresses or skirts once in a while? SAHMs don't have to live in trousers.

Realistically those cargo's can be dressed up or down- I tend to dress them down.

Belt around waist instead of hips
Skirts with tights if you prefer pants
    Long tunics with tights
At the moment I'm wearing a fitted tee, tights, and a shirred bodice skirt/dress cinched in with a belt, and I think I look awesome

I wear anything I want. Long skirts, Mini skirts, jeans if cold (only winter), Maxi dresses, knee-length dresses... Anything. I'm only limited because I'm breastfeeding.

Do you know jeans come in hipsters, mid-waist and high waist ?
Hipsters fall down and show your crack, but mid-waists will stay up with a belt.

I love cargoes! I wear fitted tops (semi-dressy or casual from long sleeved to singlet tops) with a cardy when needed.

I absolutely love Havaianas too and have a whole collection of different colours and styles so in the warm weather, I wear my flip flops most of the time or, to head out, maybe flat sandals or something with a slight heel. Wedges look great to dress up cargoes when you're out. If the weather is cooler, I wear ballet flats.

I love jeans but not for sloping around the house however, 3/4 jeans I can do. Target do a great range of stretchy ones that can easily be dressed up or down.

    HTH!

Thanks ladies. I have solved my dilemma. I've decided that jeans don't work at the moment. The best ones I found were the Levis demi something range but I'm going to leave them until I've lost the 3kg I seem to have put on recently.

So, what I was really after was a 'capsule' wardrobe - things that I could mix and match and put on in a hurry. I have LOADS of clothes in my wardrobe but I don't want to be standing there choosing a dress, then a cardigan, then shoes each morning. I want it to be more of a non-brainer. So this is what I've bought:

about five merino long sleeve tops on sale from Witchery ($30 each instead of $90 each) in different colours. I can layer these over a tank or wear on their own.
two waterfally type cardigans that I can layer over the merino tops (one for $60 at Witchery, reduced from $170 and another for about $120 from Country Road). These are also good over the jeans I do have to hide a muffin
one cream linen skirt from Emerson ($30) that I can wear in summer or winter with leggings and boots
a few peasant type shirts from Target and Country Road
two tunics from Vigorella that I can wear over leggings (they're a bit like Metalicus) and again can layer with merino tops in winter

So that's me sorted. Was kind of easy when I decided to stop stressing about trying to make jeans work and went for leggings/tunics as a base instead.
