MIVF patients...Have you ever done a cycle straddling two years?

Not sure if I will make sense here but has anyone started a stim cycle in the last week of a year but had the pickup/transfer in the new year? If so, does the cycle count as falling in the old year or new year for Medicare purposes????

    Thanks!!!

When I did a cycle going over one year (AF started in December/transfer in January) two years ago, Medicare determined the date for the cycle was the day your cycle commenced (AF start date), not the day of transfer that counted. Hope this helps - it certainly makes it easier as you know exactly before you start! It might have changed since then, but from memory, they were actually consolidating it as it used to be different for different types of cycles and the lady at Medicare told me this was to make it easier and ensure there wasn't pressure from the patients or clinics to do a transfer before they should in order to fit the medicare date into the previous year.

    Thanks Lairdoz!
I want to do another stim soon but DP thought before Christmas might be too much. I am CD5 today so I should be able to start another cycle before December 31....Unless I get a Christmas miracle, which would be even better!!

Thanks heaps. I say go for it and do another cycle before the end of the year. The only thing in life you can regret is not giving things a go!

Just spoke to the Patient Liaison at MIVF and it is based on the day you start your FSH/stim jabs.

Hopefully I will be able to squeeze one in while I am still covered by this Medicare year.
