    Removing blood from a mattress

Any ideas on how to remove fresh blood from a (very expensive) mattress?

My DD gets blood noses a lot, and cold water on fresh blood is the best but as for a mattress I am not sure how you would do it, I always just soak slips and doona covers - maybe sponge the cold water on and drag it outside to dry?? I also then spray eucalyptus oil over the area as it is an antiseptic. Good luck hun sorry I am not much help.

Start with cold water, blotting it (as not to soak the mattress), this may take a while to get it out.

Then I'm not sure if a paste of bicarb works or if vinegar works - will leave that to other domestic goddesses out there in BB land.

    This is from Shannon Lush

I have a blood stain on a mattress. How do I get it off?
Get a cake of soap from the bathroom. Dip it in cold water. Shake off excess water. Scribble on stain like it's a big crayon. Rub with old toothbrush. Sprinkle with talcum powder. Leave till talcum powder goes fluffy and then you brush it off. Repeat with talcum powder until it's removed all the moisture and the soap.
