Tell me I won't necessarily be overdue!

Hi all,

DS was born at 13 days over after being induced (was sure of dates). I'm now due 1/1 and everyone is telling me I'll be overdue again. I would desperately like the baby here before Christmas (lots of reasons). I guess I'm just after some stories that will give me hope that it's possible!! Am doing lots to try to get things moving.

Are there any reliable signs that the start of labour is imminent?

Your baby will come when he/she is ready not before and not after.

I agree with Catastrophic sorry. I think there are so many ways to try and bring on labor but I don't think any are actually going to do anything until the time is right. Goodluck I hope you get your early delivery but if not then it just was not meant to be.

its not likely bub will be here before its ready to be here, but to give you some hope, DD2 was born 4 weeks early

A friend went two weeks overdue with each of her first three babies, and then her forth bub came along at 37 weeks so past overdueness isn't necessarily an indicator of going overdue the next time. Hope you get to meet your baby soon xx

if it helps, my DS1 was born at 41weeks plus 3 days and my DS2 was born one day after his EDD. So you won't necessarily go "over" again, but you might. Please remember that EDD is just a date in the middle of the 5 weeks that your baby is most likely to be born, so it can help to look at the last date in that range as the date you expect your baby, rather than EDD. So add 14 days to your EDD and know you will have your baby by then

I too agree with the others. Definately possible for bub to be here by Christmas. I have a Christmas baby and there are lots of positives about not been born around this time. If I had my time again I'd pray she would go very over due to be born in January. She just had an early birthday party as no one can come close to Christmas but still hardly anyone could come due to Christmas parties etc. Then she is very athletic but she competes against alot of children that are basically 11-12months older then her so that disadvantages her also. There are also lots of benefits on been born in 2012 also. Hope bub does arrive early for you but if thats what you would like. The end can get so difficult.

It could go either way! Just because you went over last time doesn't mean you will this time, but you might.

think of your due date as 42 weeks and anything earlier is a bonus.
