Question Would they be suspecting PE?

My sister who is 33 weeks pregnant had a check up today and her BP was 140/95. I'm not sure what her normal BP is but the doctor was concerned She had a blood test done and has a referral for an ultrasound.

So do you think they suspect something or is this just normal protocal (sp?)

I know at the same gestation my BP was 160/110 and they had me in hospital for 6 hours so they could monitor me. But it then returned back to normal but i was in weekly after for monitoring. But i didnt need an ultrasound and they suspected PE for me..

They will be checking her liver function and other blood tests to see if she is beginning to get pre-eclampsia, also the ultrasound will be looking to see if the blood flow to the baby is restricted which can happen with high blood pressure but usually only after prolonged high BP not a one off. The baby may be growing slower if the blood flow is restricted.
She could also just be getting gestational hypertension which is high bp in pregnancy without any preeclampsia symptoms, it can be medicated or just watched if it is stable.
Or it might just be one off and goes back to normal like yours did!
Any blood pressure greater than /90 is usually checked out.
Hope everything goes ok for her and her bub

    Thanks for that.

I am just worrying as her pregnancy has been a tough one. She has epilepsy and has had quite a few seizures. And its hard when she lives in Vic.

Yep normal testing. I have regular liver and kidney function tests and growth/blood flow scans for my bub. I have those since I've had PE twice, not just suspected. Maybe they've gone straight to that protocol since she has other medical issues.
