I'm 9dp3dt in my first ICSI cycle, and through habit have been continuing to temp. I have constant uncomfortable bloating, regular uncomfortable cramping and twingy pains, tender boobs, and the whole unpredictable maelstrom of emotions. I know the progesterone I'm on is causing all the pg symptoms (I'm not normally a symptom-spotter) even if it's going to be a bfn, and should also keep my temps high, but this morning it plummetted to well below to cover-line. Does anyone else temp through IVF/ICSI cycles? Does it mean anything at all?
I tried not to think about it, and just see if it goes up again tomorrow, but I can't stop thinking about it, and can't help but think it's a bad sign, and I will still have almost a week of feeling pg, when actually I'm not.
My usual LP is 14 days, but my blood test isn't until Jan 3rd, which will be 15 days post transfer and 18 days post EPU, and that's still 6 DAYS AWAY!!! Arghhhhh!!!
I have never temped, either while trying naturally or while doing IVF, however, you are right that all the 'symptoms' are due to the progesterone and any other luteal phase support you are on (are you also using pregnyl?). I truly believe the only thing you can believe is the blood test at the end.
Speaking of which, your blood test is really late in the cycle! Most people have BTs 14dpo. Is here any reason why it is so late?? I imagine if you are not UTD, you will get AF by then, especially as your luteal phase is normally 14 days. Progesterone won't necessarily stop AF bleeding. Are you on crinone or pessaries??
I hope someone comes in and helps with your temping question!
I had 2 hcg booster shots, but the last one was a week ago. Now it's just twice daily progesterone pessaries.
I have a suspicion that NYE might be delaying the BT by a day or two- 16 dpo is when they'd normally test, according to the website and the info I got beforehand, but that will be Sunday, and Monday's also a holiday, so Tuesday it is.
I don't think I'll do a hpt at all. For previous (normal) cycles I prefer the bad news to come from AF arriving. But I feel so different to normal, it's hard not to imagine it's pg, not medications. This time it just seems so much harder to wait.
I think temping just drives you crazy after a few months. Was a real relief to let it go.
I really don't think it'd work when you're on hormonal support though Good luck!
I also didn't temp because my FS said it was pointless during IVF. Sorry, I can't really interpret your chart. But don't be surprised if AF doesn't arrive, despite the dip, because you have progesterone support. Like the girls said, don't test until the triggers are out of your system.
Our clinic routinely tests at 18 dpo so I guess it isn't that weird.
And I hope you don't go insane. This part of the cycle is so hard .
I guess it's just me who reaches for the thermometer without even thinking about it, then! It makes sense that there is less or little point in temping, thanks for your answers, ladies.
Maruschke, good to know others have had to wait this long, too. And yes, I think insanity is looming.
Meanwhile, my temp jumped again today, so I feel slightly more positive.
Well, just for the record, my temped jumped another 10th of a degree after that concerning low one, and I had my blood test through the clinic today... I'm pregnant!!
I feel so lucky to have gotten a bfp on out first attempt, though of course, we're not in the clear yet.
When I spoke to the clinic nurse she said that I am exactly 4 weeks today, and since egg pickup was on CD 12, that doesn't seem to add up for me, though I didn't realise it at the time! So 4 weeks is on my brand new ticker, for now, at least. But yes, I am 18 dp EPU and my hcg was 1122. I gather that's pretty good, but I don't know where to look for reliable charts for comparison. Estrogen was 9900 and progesterone 365.
I'll probably call the nurse again tomorrow and ask the million and one questions I didn't think to ask today!
Oh, and I'm not sure I count as LTTTC, as we tried 6 months before getting investigated (I'm 37, clock's ticking), and it took the FS no time at all to conclude that DPs very low sperm count was probably the problem. So this is only our tenth cycle ttc altogether, and first assisted. I think we're pretty lucky!
