13 months and still no AF

    Hi ladies,

Miss P is 13 months old and I still have not had a period since she was born?? I am taking the mini pill (Microlut) for contraception but my ob did say I would still get a period. Miss P is BF but has been comp fed formula since she was a couple of weeks old due to insufficient supply (I've had breast reductions).

Miss P is my third child, my first two were FF. My period returned with both of my previous babies 28 days after my lochia ceased and I have always had a regular cycle.

So, do I need to be concerned?? I'm thinking I haven't had a period due to the combination of the mini pill and BF?? 13 months does seem to be a long time though, most women I have spoken to, even those who have solely BF, have had AF return before 12 months.

    Hi!
I think you are definitely within the range of normal.
I bf all my children until they were over 2. I was not taking the pill or using any form of hormone based contraception. With my first two, I got AF back when they were 13 months old.
With my third child, AF returned when he was 15 months.
I am hoping with bub #4, that AF stays away until bub is at least 15 months!

I wouldn't be concerned. I bf ds1 with formula comp feeds for 17 months, no AF. Towards the end i was only bf him to sleep and a bit at night to resettle and still no AF. AF only returned 5 weeks after I fully weaned him.

I wouldn't worry. Rejoice in your ability to wear white undies any old time you like!

I didn't get AF back until my son was a year old, even though he was night weaned and only having a few BF per day. I was also on the mini pill. Everyone I knew IRL got their's back after just a few months so I definitely felt in the minority at the time, plus we were wanting to TTC! But I do think it's normal

Thanks, ladies, I feel a bit better now. I was starting to think something might be wrong! Not getting AF is lovely, but in all honesty, I kinda feel like a 'need' to have a period ITMS?? Constantly bloated and just... bleugh. (Yes, 'bleugh' is the technical term.)
