    Temporary housing for cats???

The friend that was looking after my cat can't anymore, I'm stuck in hospital with Jett for another few months and all my cat lover friends have other cats. Is there any temp housing arrangements for cats that you know about? I can't get rid of him, I've had him for 9 years, but I might have to if I can't find somewhere for him. I absolutely don't have ANYONE that could take him. My heart is breaking

We would look after him if we had a proper house to live in. Can you board him somewhere? Otherwise try Friends of the Pound down at the Tweed. They may help if you explain the circumstances.

He would hate being boarded and I'm not sure how exxy it would be. I'll try friends of the pound, I've never heard of it. Thanks for the suggestion

I was going to say, long term boarding which could be expensive. Is there an RSPCA close by? I'm sure if you explained your situation to them they may have one some contacts of pet carers they could pass onto you.

They have cat sitters in Brisbane (pet sitters). I can't link to it because it is commercial, but let me try and find the link and pm you . If you put your situation in the ad you might get it free?

I am in Melbourne and quite a few people around my area will come to your house and look after your animals for you. They will also pick up mail, put your bins out, water plants as an added bonus and so on.
Could you also perhaps get a boarder to stay at your house, so house/pet sit.
Friends use this when they go OS to look after their dogs and cats. The boarder doesn't pay rent or board, just the usual cost of living and look after your animals. They did it through an agency I think?
One website is called houseminders dot com dot au.

I have pm you a company that may help

Also, perhaps we could contact the RSPCA and see if they can help, I saw a TV show the other day that had animal foster carer's, I'm hopeful that if you explain your circumstances we could find something

    Thanks everyone for the replies

Heather72 - I don't have a house for the cat to live in. My ex partner is in the house we were living in and it is too much to ask that he looks after him. Would have been the simple option though...

I will try the petsitters etc and let you know how I go.. Fingers crossed

Can't believe I missed this thread. If you still need a home for your cat I will take him for as long as you need. I also have a 9y.o cat, but she is pretty mellow, and we have enough hidey holes for both of them.

We will cover food etc, you won't have to worry. Let me know if you're interested. I would love to help- and understand how heartbreaking it would be if you couldn't keep him.
