    Painkiller intolerance?

I'm wondering if DD can't handle painkillers.
She's 13 months, and because she's small we always give her the lowest dose for her weight.

But, we've noticed that everytime we give her panadol she has a really restless sleep or a nightmare and she cries ALOT.

We've tried nurofen but that gives her full-on night terrors. She'll thrash in our arms and scream and scream and we can't wake her up.

She was on morphine for the first 3 days of her life (something I never want to go through again is watching your tiny baby suffer withdrawel) and then regular panadol for about 7-10 days after that.

Thoughts?? She's teething and needs a painkiller but I just can't handle what will probably happen.

Could her tummy absorb it too quickly or too efficiently?

There are homeopathic remedies that are milder (Brauer's), but i'd maybe check with a GP or MCHN to see what they think first.

A cold face washer on her gums may help if they are sore.

Could you try a different brand to panadol? My son doesn't do panadol (won't take it- spits out etc) but will do dymadon. Just a thought.

Same as Leckert. We don't do panadol here for the same reasons.
Have you tried teething tablets or an amber necklace? Can't recommend them highly enough.
