    What did you buy first?

Ok, this is more of a fun topic than a serious one. I know some people have their nursery practically equipped before they even fall pregnant and others who leave it till the last minute not wanting to jinx things. Personally I'm aiming for somewhere In-between and have promised DH I won't start shopping till second trimester. Well that deadline is coming soon so I thought I'd ask...

What was the first thing you bought for baby?

Something small like clothing? Or a big ticket item like a cot or pram?

Looking for a bit of inspiration!

Technically, the very first thing of Amelia's I bought was a pair of socks in 2005. They were originally for the baby my mum was pregnant with, and miscarried. Then the baby after that, also miscarried. Then my cousin's baby, same. Then Ianto... Are you noticing a pattern? *sigh* I thought those stupid socks were cursed and almost threw them out! Finally, I was able to put them on a baby mid-last year

Aside from that, I don't really know. A lot of things we have/had were bought for Ianto, or picked up while I wasn't even pregnant. I can't remember what the first thing bought specifically for Amelia was

For DD, a sling. I had read all about them on here and just got all excited and bought one when I was about 10 weeks.

For DS, I went out after the 20 week scan after we found out we were having a boy and celebrated by buying some cute little boy clothes.

For DD it was a layby with pram, high chair and portacot. Tried explaining to her father at the time we didn't need 2 of those things. She never got a "cot" until I left him when she was 10 weeks old.

For this one I'm not sure, I'm itching to buy but after 2 m/c last year I'm holding out. Although in saying that my sister has started choosing stuff for me!

I think it was a sling, that was the first baby specific thing i got. But I did buy a few things that thought, that would be good for a baby, but still got it not for a baby itms =)

We brought a pram.. Think I was about 9 weeks. And then we brought carseat, Cot, Mattress & Change table when I was about 12/14weeks- that was an expensive trip.

It's so fun buying things for the nursery, clothes etc. have fun!

For DS the very first thing we bought were some clothes. Little bondsuits, singlets & the like and that was around 15 weeks.
After that at about 28 weeks we bought the pram, car seat & cot all at once!! Was SO exciting setting it all up!

For DD we pretty much had everything, so it was really only after she was born that we bought her clothes, blankets etc

Mum bought DD a pair of socks with embroidered bees on them quite early, about 6-10 weeks I think.
I wouldn't let DH buy anything until after 20 weeks. Don't know why. So we bought a pram, then a cot/change table. And then the rest after that. It was about new year sales time anyway. However after the poor buggar dragged it all up stairs, he wasn't allowed to touch any of it until after 30 weeks.

DH actually bought the first thing which was a jumpsuit and matching hat for a precious angel. I actually just put it in Bubbalou's chest of drawers today. First big item was the cot which I got at about 5 weeks from ebay as it was exactly what I wanted at a bargain price

DD1 I bought some tiny little wondersuits when I was about 5 minutes pg! Then a pram when I was about 12 weeks because it was on sale.

DS I bought some boy clothes when we found out at 20 weeks he was a bloke.

DD2 I bought a few new girly bits after we knew the gender at 12 weeks 5 days.

LOL "5 minutes pg" I say that too

I was the same, wondersuits when I was about 9 weeks.

Actually technically it might have been the new maternity bras - needed them at about 8 weeks

    Honestly can't remember for DD1.

With DD2 I was wandering through Target and saw the teeny-tiny baby clothes and did my usual "awww, they're so cute". Then thought HANG ON, I'M PREGGERS, I can buy them. Was embarrassingly late when it actually sunk in ... about 30 weeks pregnant.

Glider/rocking chair. It was on sale when I was 10 weeks pg. As I was in hospital for a week, then got a baby that slept through from 5 weeks it hasn't gotten a lot of use yet, as I don't feed her in the nursery during the day...

I keep telling DH we'll need to have a second baby (he's undecided!) to be sure we get our $$ worth out if it. Super comfy chair too!

At 13 weeks we put the following on lay-by (package deal) :
    - cot & mattress
    - change table
    - pram
    - car seat
