New thread and hopefully another new homebirthed bubba here soon.

Your birth story was great, Bella.

We've chosen our DD2's middle name - Hannah Jane (from DP, whose middle name is John).

Saw my m/w today - only one more visit until we're done. I'm glad we'll catch up at our monthly HB get togethers or I'd be much sadder. Feels like a chapter is closing. I even got up the courage to ask about DTD today. everything is feeling pretty good, but I'm not that upset about missing my m/w that I want an excuse to have her back, so I told DP to get condoms last night!

Packed away the birth pool and put the dining room back in order too. *sigh* I'll have to watch the birth video to cheer myself up!

Oh bella I can't wait to read. But the length scares me off at the moment. I love to get a good cup of tea and no interruptions when I'm reading a good birth story. Teething Molly won't agree to this tonight. So rather than spoil it I'll read tomorrow. But thank you for sharing such a personal experience with us.

    Thinking of you hoti

I am still here, been semi-reclusing, reflecting, energising.

My Mum took DD for a few hours today and i had a lovely rest chilling under the fan. DH and i picked her up and then got take away from our fav restaurant. DD had fallen asleep in the car so we parked next to a park and had a picnic dinner. DD then woke up and joined the picnic and then we played on the playground for almost an hour. It was lovely just to spend that time together.

    Appt with our midwife tomorrow.

thank you for your lovely messages.

Did anyone watch 'the doctors' tv show today? they had a segment on waterbirth- 'when water and babies don't mix'. AN ad came on for it just before my midwife appt, and we ended up watching it (midwife, student midwife, dh and i).

the dr lisa had a disgusting prop of a fishbowl with a doll lying under the surface of brown feral water.

Dr Lisa is a ****head. She's a true interentionalist and has always viewed birth as inherently risky.

Glad I missed it then. Sounds like a complete load of sensationalist twaddle. I for one will be giving birth in water if I ever do it again!

hahah - yes I saw that too! She's an idiot - not only does she talk absolute rubbish but she can't have a conversation without yelling, interrupting and finger pointing. She also believes the 'cervical cancer vaccine' has 'eradicated cervical cancer' LOL!!!!

Only a few weeks ago she was talking about how important it is to clamp the umbilical cord immediately, despite the recent research findings endorsed by ACOG...and she had a segment on 'emergency childbirth' where she was telling fathers they need to pull on the baby's head as it's born

There's a clip on YouTube of a 'debate' she had with Ricki Lake about homebirth :eyeroll:

Hope you didn't take any of the negativity from the segment on board HotI...I bet your m/w was horrified...I remember whingeing to her about the same show at one of my visits

It's not in the plan! But we certainly aren't permanently ending the option.

Nah, the 3 of us were saying how stupid she was. Thought the guest presented info much clearer, even when the dr was trying to yell her down. Pity the audience gave a cheer for the dr at the end.

We then watched a lovely 10 min waterbirth dvd that the midwife had with her. Very cute when the 2 big brothers jumped in the bath after bub was born to meet their sister.

My bub has stayed head down and moved into better position, needs to put bit more pressure on the cervix, so it might be a few days still but heart rate and everything else is fine.

That sounds really positive HotI. I'm glad bub is in a good position.

    Jen, that is great

I'm cruising along. Bub is head down. I am feeling really introverted atm. A friend came over today but I was not looking forward to it. I have been avoiding people. I just want to stay at home and nest, which is difficult during school hols. I can't remember if I was like this during my other pregnancies. Was anyone else like this?
