    Question Possum? Birds? Ghost??

I am literally freaking out! There is something in my roof! we have heard it for months, possibly even years!

Just now i have the telly switched off and the house is deadly quiet and something was walking in the roof above the loungeroom. Then i guess it fell over as there was this thud and then a sound like it was dragging something else.

I have begged DP to investigate but he's worried whatever it is will attack him if he put his head up into the man hole

Who do i call to come out and investigate for me? Rspca? exterminator??

I'd be calling a friend or someone that will have a look for free first. Someone perhaps a little braver then your DH Chances are if it is an animal the only sign will be seeing it's nest or droppings and hey if it is a ghost then it can't hurt you anyway.

Its probably a possum or a snake. You could call out a snake/possum relocator to at least have a look and give you some advice on discouraging it from living in your ceiling. Unless it is exotic (e.g. non-native rats) you won't be able to have it killed though.

Argh! If I thought even for one second it could be a snake there is no way I would be putting my head up there... I don't think I could sleep in the house until I knew it was gone.

Chances are it could be a possum, does it make other noises? If you're renting you should contact your agent and get them to send a pest control person out - it's the landlords responsibility not yours.

Possums sound like they're running and rolling around. They don't do a lot of dragging either.

Depends where you live but it could well be a snake. The good thing about snakes is, they keep other pests at bay and don't usually come out to play.

I did think with the walking and dragging noises that it could be a snake eating a possum. But then that doesn't faze me so hope I haven't freaked you out. A snake up there is likely to be something like a python going after mice. Do you have video on your phone? You could tape your phone to a broom stick and poke it up to have a look.

It's probably a sleepy possum that was trying to get more comfy lol. We had something in my roof a while ago and it made heaps of noise for months before we got rid of it. I referred to it as a possum no matter what scary things DF thought it could be lol - he just kept sealing the roof more every weekend until the noises stopped.

I like the camera on a broom idea lol very Maguvre-y!!
