Made redundant yesterday :(

Well, I knew it was coming and wasn't a huge surprise but now I'm kinda panicking cause I'm the only wage earner in the house *eek*

Have got 2 weeks wages in lieu of notice so with FTA/B we've got 3 weeks worth of money before we run out, which will hopefully be enough time to find another job.

I'm registered with agencies and on seek.com. Is there anywhere else I should look?

MyCareer? Depending on your industry it may be better. I find it better than seek for what I do.

It depends on what sort of work you do?
There are temping agency's, labour hire agency's, some industries you could approach some large companies directly, even if they don't have something advertised.

On the job websites most jobs are advertised by recruitment agencies - if you find a lot of the jobs you are looking for are advertised by the same couple of agencies you could call them directly to see what else they have available and to start the process of being in their system.

What a bummer - definately register for temp work - there is usually a far amount of it around (depending on what you do) it will keep you going till you find something permanent and pays better too

I think it's coming for me too.

Thanks ladies I'm an admin / sales girl at heart but will do pretty much anything cause I need to pay the bills!! 2 weeks wages won't go far with 3 kids, 2 dogs and a partner to feed (and I'm not even thinking about paying the rent cause that's really frightening!!).
