    Where is my bloody show?

So as a few of you know I'm 39 weeks + 5 and I've had very mild prelabour for about 10 days- loose stools, lots of uncomfortable Braxton Hicks that I feel from my belly down to my bum, mild period cramps etc. my OB said it sounds like things are progressing nicely towards labour and she would be surprised if I carried much beyond my due date. But she asked me about a bloody show and I've not had one yet. My question is, how many first time mamas have the show before labour? Or is more likely to turn up during active labour? Or not at all? I'm just feeling very restless and impatient to meet my tiny one!

No idea! I haven't had one either. I haven't even had any of those other things except random mild period cramps. I'm sure I'm having BH but not really feeling them so no idea when :P

With my first I did have a bloody show a day or two before I went into labour. This was with zero pre labour whatsoever!

My second I had heaps of pre labour for a couple of weeks, just like how you described...no bloody show at all

I had a bloody show around 7am. Had contractions after that, on and off for the day then that night around 9pm I started feeling the contractions getting more serious. At hospital by 1am and DS born at 4pm.

With DD1 I had random BH and no bloody show - she was induced eventually and my waters broken.

DD2 was 9 days overdue and I had enormous amounts of prelabour from about 36 weeks. I had a bloody show about 15 minutes before she was born - she was very quick!!

I hope you're not waiting too much longer.

I lost my plug about 15 mins before labour started, but there was no bloody show. Didn't get that until about an hour before DD was born.

I've haven't lost anything that I've noticed in any if my pregnancies until labour has been under way. I think its one those things like waters breaking, happens to some before labour and others not until labour is happening.

I didn't have a show with either of mine. With DD, there was some after my waters broke.

My OB said something similar with both of mine. With DD, she did a S&S on my due date & said I was already 2cms dialated. DD didn't come for another 7 days. I don't mean to scare you as you could just as easily go tomorrow, just saying, don't get your hopes up.

Have you tried acupuncture to encourage labour to start? I did with DD & noticed an increase in BH but it didn't end up progressing.

regular contractions started at 12:30am, had bloody show at about 9am from memory...the week prior I had a lot of extra CM.

Sounds like your body is doing lots of great preparation I had lots of symptoms like yours for about 3 weeks...bub ended up coming at 41 weeks. Try not to read in to them too much because it can get really frustrating if you do - rest assured that your baby will be here soon and all these things you're noticing are signs that your body is working and doing what it needs to

Thanks everyone it means a lot to read your responses. I do feel really happy and satisfied that I've had this prelabour- it makes me feel like my body is doing as it should and is being strong. And though I'm 39 weeks I'm pretty comfortable - I'm not wanting this baby 'out' but am just so excited!

One more thing- I thought the plug was the same as the show? As in when the plug comes out it has blood in it?

Mine just looked like blood, not mucousy at all if that helps. Sounds like things are different for loads of different people. Not long to go though, hope your little one is here soon

Don't lose hope that active labour is just around the corner just because you haven't had your show. I didn't have a show with either of my bub's. I was watching for it with every wipe of toilet paper, but nothing, lol.

Thanks girls. I'm back on my fitball rotating those hips like there's no tomorrow and just came back from a rapid walk. Only problem is now my pubic bones feel like they are about to burst!

I believe the bloody show is the last bit of the mucous plug. I lost my plug, it was a golf ball sized glob of ewcm. I actually looked through my photos, and I was losing my bloody show from an hour or so from being born right until she was crowning. It's a big bloody jelly type thing lol.
