    Am I taking synarel correctly?

I know I am thinking too hard about this but....am I taking synarel wrong? I am Day 3 today. I realise that my first sniff on Day 1 was not the best but have tried to do it correctly since. I have read so much about symptoms when taking synarel and now I'm paranoid cause I haven't had any symptoms to sneeze at (pun intended).

I think I'm taking it correctly because a) I'm now following the directions b) I feel a slight sting in my nose as soon as I sniff, c) have a bit of an aftertaste in the back of my throat a few minutes later and d) I have to fight the urge to sneeze within a few minutes..

So the reasons I'm worried, are that I have not felt a hint of a headache, or any of the other side effects I've read about. I'm no more moody than usual. How ridiculous that I'm worried about not having those symptoms...

I really don't want to be disappointed by a false start because I'm not spraying right!

I guess this whole thing makes you feel like your body's a total failure and I feel like the universe is out to get me...obviously I have to get over myself.

    Hi Renvind,
sorry the process is driving you crazy already. I haven't taken syneral for over a year, but I can't remember getting any side effects from it. From what you say it sounds like you are doing it very well, if you can taste the stuff in the back of your throat it must have gone in your nose so thats a good sign. The other thing I would say is that it would be unlikely to get side effects after 3 doses, it has to build up in your system and wouldn't be high enough to give you side effects yet.
I found that sometimes i felt like nothing had gone in when i did it and other times it was really obvious, so I think you are on the right track and will find it has done its job well!
    Best of luck x

I dont think you need to get over yourself, IVF is tough FWIW it sounds to me like you are doing everything right but I remember worrying I wasnt doing it right too cause I had never used a nasal spray before then! Dont panic about the symptoms, every woman is different. There is a thread on here somewhere asking exactly what were everyones symptoms. Hang in there and fingers crossed all works well for you this cycle

    Hi,

I don't think you need to worry too much about not getting the side effects. I too am sniffing Synarel atm (9th day) and am not feeling any side effects as well. I used Synarel in my last IVF round as well and also didn't have any side effects. If you're feeling that horrible taste in your throut afterwards thats a good indication it's working. Just to be on the safe side I always make sure I tilt my head back for a bit after sniffing and sniff a little to make sure nothing drops out. Hope this helps

sounds the same as what I had to and my cycle was fine.... in fact it sounds exactly like it was for me... the only headache I got, was when AF arrived after I stopped taking the pill and was only taking syneral.

try not to worry and overanalyse - you are doing it right! and it will happen!!!

    good luck!!!

Renvind, I agree with the other girls on all accounts.....it sounds as if you are doing perfectly and you have no need to get over yourself cos this whole process is characterised by doubt and anguish and what you feeel is normal and expressing it is healthy. Hang in there. It is all good

Yep, sounds like you're doing it right

This IVF business is a scary process, I remember constantly worrying and second guessing whether things were going right or not.

Trust yourself, your FS and the process.

    Good luck!!

Thanks everyone! You are all very reassurring. I also take a big sniff when I spray - just to make sure. The aftertaste though is not too strong, but enough to notice. I have been sleeping very well though, which has been great as I have recently been having trouble with this. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but the good night sleeps seem to have coincided with starting the spray....
