How much do you/would you pay for?

    These services

*Someone to mow the lawn once/month. Smallish yard both back and front and do whipppersnipping as well...

*Someone to clean the house Once/fortnight. 4bedroom/two bathroom. Vaccume house and mop floors and clean bathrooms and toilets. (takes around 2-3 hours to do this)

*someone to clean the pool once/month... It's a inground concrete/pebble pool. Normal size. Rectangle. Chlorine (it's meant to be salt but the filter is screwed atm.

Trying to see if I could afford it and still save month ;-/

I get my house cleaned, dust, vacuum, mop and wet areas cleaned for $70 a fn. my house sounds the same size as yours.

My lawn is pretty small and I get that mowed and general weeding done for $25 a fn.

Dont have a pool... So can't help with that sorry.

I find them worth it so I don't spend my weekend without my big kids cleaning, I can rest a bit and still have me time.

Lawns I have paddock mine cost $40 front and back.
I get these done when DH is away or during summer so he doesn't have to.
Cleaner she comes does 2hrs for $50 and she pretty much cleans my entire house. I love her, she comes in once a fortnight and just 'tops' up my regular clean DH does not know about her but she is my 'luxury'.
    Sorry don't have a pool

For house cleaning we were paying $61 for 2 hours each week...have just found someone new who does 3 hours per fortnight for $75. Our house sounds about the same as yours.

I've always wanted a cleaner - but we were being charged stupid prices for a little house. I just need someone once a fortnight to give me some extra time for uni.

I don't mean to hijack but where do you find these people??

We were quoted $150 for our lawns once a month - we don't have a lawn mower and previous to here we didn't need to mow but we weren't going to pay that price. We do have a large back yard but still!!!

I have looked up at a few companies that do it with prices on their website of house clean +35 and lawns +50...

Did you all go through a big company or where did you find them?

Where do you live cat? In melbourne I think about 60 would be standard for a two hour clean. Lawns vary a lot with size so not sure. Only get our done when I have been desperate as they are a foot high!

I pay $60pw for my house cleaner (but then she does everything, washes clothes, folds, puts away, then a massive clean so I only have to maintain)

I then pay $40 per month for my lawn guy and he mows snippers weeds etc

My lawnmower man I found on Facebook and my cleaner was through a friend.
I had issues with cleaner, having a stranger in my house etc so I found someone I know.

My cleaner was through a large company originally. Then a few weeks ago I saw a sign in a local shop window, thought I'd give her a chance seeing she was charging less and was a local. So far so good!

My cleaner costs $25 an hour and it takes her 4 hrs a week to clean our house ( its a 4x2 but it is a big house) and that also includes doing our ironing. When we were looking for one we found the big companies were charging a lot more per hour than the girls out on there own.

We have a house cleaner once a fortnight (through 'Absolute Domestics') - she does exactly that and all the dusting, we have a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom + study with two living areas. She does it in three hours for $70 - a bargain. I could spend $70 on nothing easily so its money well spent and frees up much needed family time

Sorry to crash this thread, but I've also been thinking about this for ages too. Is once a fortnight enough? We have 4 b/r, study and 2 b/r but 2 of the rooms are hardly used and only DS almost 2 uses the bath downstairs. But then I find I need to clean the upstairs floor at least every second day.

Also, I'm not sure how I feel about having someone in my home. Do you stay home when they're there or go out?

    Thanks.

I would get it cleaned once per week but it depends on the size of the house. Is it a big house or more of a compact town house style?

I am at work when our cleaner comes. She has her own key and let's herself in and out. I would feel more uncomfortable if I was home and I had someone else in my house cleaning.

For cleaning I have three bed two bathrooms and I pay $45 per week for a 2 hour clean. That's enough to do bathrooms, dusting, floors and change linen. Often I'll ask for fridge cleaned or something else as a one off and the dusting will wait a week.

I found her through a friend in mother group. She's been cleaning for me for years and I'm very happy. I'd rather cut back on the budget a little and have more family time.

Normally I'm at work when she comes but when I've been on mat leave I'd try and be out. The boys and I just get in the way.

Nat82 - I was having a weekly clean before I switched to fortnightly and I honestly thought the house would go to rack and ruin in 2 weeks! But surprisingly it doesn't get too bad. I have to vacuum every couple of days anyway thank to DS1 traipsing sand all through the house, and of course I'll wipe down the kitchen if need be. I wouldn't be comfortable giving them a key so I'm always home to let them in. Then I usually go out as it's hard to keep out of someones way for 3 hours plus DS1 would make even more mess.
