I'm about to start pre requists units for uni to start a bachelor in nursing hopefully head in the direction of paediatric nursing..
This will all be done through Open Universities.
So my question is has anyone done this?
How did you you manage and did you find it hard to understand just reading the materials?
How did you stay committed? By tht I mean, not loose interest as that's what I'm scared of..
Any advice would be highly appreciated
Prerequisite units are basic ones to get you up to speed so while they may be new subjects they aren't designed to be hard.
If anything it is a great way to get a feel for studying again and see if you can fit it all in before you hit the really hard subjects.
Good luck - studying with little ones is hard but if it something you really want to do then I say go for it !
IF they are the type of ones that teach you how to write essays and papers etc for Uni then they will be worthwhile. Boring as bat poop but very helpful if you need a hand with academic writing. One thing I have heard about Open Universities from someone who was doing a teaching degree there was that there was a huge online component and she was finding she'd have to spend 2 days on the computer just to keep up to speed with the modules as they had to make a lot of online contibutions. THis may be different for the degree you are aiming for, but it put her off enough that she has deferred the rest of her degree and is trying to change Unis as it was too muc for her to keep up with.
