What can I take for a cold/manky throat?

I have picked up DD's cold and am feeling pretty miserable. Fess and paracetamol aren't cutting it anymore and now my throat and ear are starting to hurt like hell. I'm prone to tonsilitis so I really want to knock this on the head now. Can I take anything, herbal or otherwise, that can help?

If you think you're getting a throat or ear infection, see a dr and get some ABs.

In the meantime, plain hot water, with or without a squeeze of lemon and honey, works really well to relieve throat pain.

Good honey and lemon in hot water, vit c, home made chicken stock as a drink or in soup, homemade garlic bread. Maybe gargle with salt water.

Gargling a mouth wash every couple hours works really well too. Kills all the bacteria.

There is one throat lozenge that is safe during pregnancy. I can't for the life of me remember which one though but it is through the chemist. Get them to check for you. From memory it was just a plain lemon one but it helped.
Hope you're feeling much better real soon

I make a "Cold & Flu Blitz" herbal tea which is very soothing, wonderfully effective and a boost for the immune system. I serve it with Manuka honey for extra super-powers for the immune system. I can make you a special pregnancy-friendly blend of this tea.

You could also try Olive Leaf Extract, Colloidal Silver and garlice capsules.

    Get well soon.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I was drinking hot honey and lemon all week and it did the trick - tasted good too I think I need to get more rest and just boost my immune system in general... anyone know if l-lysine is safe to take during pregnancy?
