    Good luck Sarah4kurt - you'll be fine!!!

EPU is not too bad - you are knocked out so after its like you are achey and bloated which is annoying. But not really painful. I had a Panadol or two on that day and was better by the time transfer came around. It's probably the meds that bloat you up too!!!

Come join us in the LTTTC and AC thread its very helpful!!! I am on my phone so too hard to put the link in for you!!

Well done on your first 'stab' !

Oh all the best with it - thinking of you!

I work for one of the major clinics in Melbourne; so I do a lot of OPUs/ETs and the like. It really can depend on your own reactions, as well as how many follicles you have and eggs are collected (often if there are a large amount it can hurt a lot more; generally moreso on the second day), but regular panadol and a heatpack works for most women.

If it gets any worse than that, you should be calling the IVF nurses and talk over it with them.

Pretty much what myturn said. I felt a little sore and bloated & that was it. I have good recoveries from surgery though.

    Best of luck

    Best of luck!

I'll be totally honest and tell you that for me, egg collection was the worst part of the process for me. I would feel ok the day of collection, just a bit sore and tender, but for a few days afterwards I would be bent over in pain when moving about. After my first egg pickup my husband stayed home the next day to help with our son. After my second pickup it was much worse for me. I could hardly move the day after and my Mum came to help me look after my son. The pain continued for longer the second time as well. About 5 days after the procedure I felt something come out when I went to the toilet and found a stitch on the toilet paper. I freaked out and felt inside myself and could feel another stitch inside still tied and secure. I freaked out and rang the clinic. It turned out that I had experienced excessive bleeding during the procedure and had required stitches in my vaginal wall to stop the bleeding. It's apparently fairly rare, and absolutely unheard of to not be told about it. It seems there was a major communication failure and they forgot to tell me about it after the procedure.

Hmmm, don't really know why I told you all the scary stuff as it's probably the last thing you want to hear about, but at least you know that what happened during my second procedure is rare, and that my extreme pain afterwards is not the most common reaction as the other girls that have posted haven't experienced it that badly.

I wish you all the best and hope you have some fantastic news shortly

    my first ivf cycle

Big hug Sarah - FET feels much nicer on the body - less stabbing and jabbing and snorting and sucking.... So the frosties might work.

But look after yourself - it's a big sucky unfair situation you are in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yep, for some women, frosties work so much better than fresh. The theory goes that if they have survived the thaw, they are pretty strong, AND your body isn't so stressed after going through a stim... there is a fresh lining not affected by all those drugs. Thinking of you xoxo.
