Wow!

Well, never thought I'd be here. I just realised I've now been breastfeeding my DD1 for just over 3 years! And I've also been tandem feeding my girls for over 1 year!

I'm the family freak! haha, I think they all think I'm slightly crazy. Not many people know but when we're visiting people and DD1 says 'I need some booby before bed, did DD2 leave me some??' Well, uh, it's kinda hard to miss. I have got some strange looks. The IL's haven't even bothered to ask if I'm still feeding but I'm sure they know. My family know and every time I speak to them they ask 'so is DD1 still on the boob?' like it's super important to their life that she weans.

Well poo to you people, I'm proud of myself!! I didn't ever expect to be here. My first goal was BFing for 1 yr and then it was to get to 2 yrs and I haven't made any goals after that, I really want DD1 to self wean so I guess maybe we might be at it for a little longer. DD1 is still having 1 feed before bed and she never misses it. And DD2, well, she's a booby lover like her sister so I'm expecting we have lots of BFing still ahead of us. It's really been a lifesaver for us. Instant tantrum stopper, ouchie fixer, hunger buster, and awesome mummy DD time.

I think 3 years is a pretty good effort for DD1 so I'm feeling content and happy for her to wean any time now, although I don't think she's having the same thoughts, lol. I'm guessing she might wean whenever I get pregnant with number 3!

Triandem, eep! If anyone was going to keep BFing forever it would be my DD1, LOL. I do remember thinking tandem feeding was a little strange and look at me now, so I guess I won't rule anything out haha.

DD1 got to just before four years, when I encouraged her to stop after a few days break when we were away and she had a sleep over. I just suggested that maybe she didn't really need bby since she'd missed it without issue for a while. Without a murmur, she moved on. I had my bbs to myself for a full year before I was pg again. I'll be interested to see how DD2 goes.

And tandem feeding too - you really are a star!! (much better title than a freak, think how much you're educating all of those around you!)

I was reading some comments on an article on FB about BFing 'older' kids yesterday and people were saying how they felt a bit weird about feeding older babies in public. They were talking about kids who were 14 months or so and I remembered feeling the same with DD1. This time around that thought had never even crossed my mind. I guess people might be starting to think DD2 is too old now but it never even occurred to me because I'm still feeding a 3 yr old

Lol, looks like I'm about a week or two away from doing just that as DS2yrs10mths and DD14mths are both still tandem feeding and our newest little one might make an arrival any day now. Have no idea what to call it though hehe.


Heaven, you are amazing. You are doing such a beautiful job. No wonder the girls both love it so much. I'm like you, very proud of how far I've gotten with my first child and happy for them to self-wean when they are ready. DS has been talking about giving the baby his "mumma milk" when it's born, but we'll see if he actually sticks to that or not, lol.

EDIT: Haha, just googled it and "triandem" really IS what it's called. Love it!

I don't know anyone who's done triandem feeding on three at different ages but a girlfriend BF her triplets until they self weaned at 17 months!

And I'm with the others- poo to everyone else who thinks they have the right to make comments! Mumma knows what's best for her girls!!
