I had a friend with a rhyming name and she absolutely hated it and couldn't believe her parents did it to her, so I would never do a rhyming name for my child. But tht's just m opinion.
Like spencer from your list. Could you do spencer William john?
Okay so our surname is short and one syllable. It rhymes with Mill.
I love the name William. William John Mill sounds fine I think but we all know names get shortened. I love the name Will for short buttttttttt....... is Will Mill too much? I mean his name would be William and DH and his father and his grandfather etc etc have always had "Milly" (except with proper letter at the front) as a nickname rather than shortened version of their own names so chances are if bubs is a boy he would get the same by his peers and "Will" would most likely just get used at times when his full name wasn't necessary (i.e. by those not wishing to call him "Milly") and for the rest of it he would be referred to as William. Does that make sense?
We have other names as well, all with John as a middle name as that is DH's middle name and my dad's first name. We'd really like to have that as a middle name. We have Avery John, Jakeb John, William John and Spencer John. Spencer is DH's grandfather's name.
We are a little undecided with Avery. It surprised us that we both liked it as we go for more traditional names. At the end of the day, we won’t be naming the little one until we've met them but want to have a short list for boy and girl names.
So what does everyone think, a) about the William/Will question and about our other names?
Much appreciated!

Lochlan?
You definately need a longish name & I wouldn't go with anything that rhymes! So be careful. What about Mitchell? Shortened to Mitch...
I think no sorry. His friends will put his full name together and call him Will Mill (windmill?) pretty easily.
I think a 3 syllable name is great though- how about Timothy? Or Benjamin?
From your list I like Spencer![]()
another one who agrees to not have his first and last names rhyming.
from your list i like Jakob.
what about Jakob Spencer
Thanks ladies. Bugger. I thought just maybeeeeee it wasn't as bad as I thought lol. Stoopid DHs last name. I really like Spencer William John but not sure about the two middle name thing.
Lachlan is on the longer short listand another I like is Harrison, Harry for short. I'm not keen on Mitchell though I'm sorry, know too many.
What do people think of Avery? Is it a bit too different? Not strong enough? All the men in my hubby's family are a) very tall and b) quite strong, they have a real presence about them. I know that doesn't necessarily mean if we have a boy he will be the same but I just feel like our boy will need a strong name itms.
Girls names we find so much easier. Not sure why.
