    Any vets online?

My dog is having massive troubles urinating. He is constantly wanting to go out but only weeing a few drops each time. He is desexed and just recently been on a course of antibiotics for a bladder infection (about a month ago), urine was tested then and no crystals or stones found but he has had bladder stones 18months ago requiring surgery.

I just dont know what to do. We dont have pet insurance and I am worried how much this is going to cost.

Do you think it can wait to the morning to check him out or should I look at taking him to a vet hospital tonight?

I'm not a vet but as a dog owner I would leave this until the morning and then get him into see someone in the morning, assuming he isn't very distressed and in lots of pain.

i'm with the others. unless he is visabily distressed or in pain then i would think he would be ok until the morning. As annoying as it may be for you guys - keep checking on him during the night etc.
GL hope things are ok. x

I actually wouldn't wait. Possibly he will be ok until morning but if there are stones blocking his urinary passage it could become an emergency quite quickly. Unfortunately I would recommend taking him somewhere tonight or at least calling your vet to discuss.

We went to the Vet first thing this morning and were there when their doors opened but they are completely booked and cant see us until 10:45 even though I expained his symptoms and said I havent seen him poo or wee in over 12 hours even though he has tried at least 50 times. We are going back in 45minutes. We dropped DD at my mums earlier today and have just been cuddling Winston and patting him. he cant get comfprtable at all. He is making noises when he is breathing at times when the pain is getting uncomfortable. I dont understand why the vet wouldnt see us if this seems to be more of an emergency than other appointments (although I dont know what the other apppointments are in fairness to them).
From all the reading I have done, he has all the signs of enlarged prostate, not sure what is causing it, but cancer could be one cause, especially since he was desexed at 6months which rules out a whole lot of other diseases of the prostate. I am hoping it could just be cysts but even to remove them is difficult due to the nature of where the prostate is.

DH and I have had a good cry this morning just to prepare ourselves as we dont think it is looking good, but I am still keeping up hope that he can be treated. Thanks for all of your replies.

Thanks everyone, he is not good.

He is under anaesthetic and had had xrays, bloods, and a catheta put in. His bladder was completely full and there were small stones stuck in his uretha blcoking the urine from coming out. It has turned the urine into a pus substance and he was lucky not to have kidney damage. WE are already up to a bill of $600 and that is without the surgery. The vet has managed to push the stones back into the bladder and now we haveto decide if we go ahead with surgery for a second time. There is nothing to stop these stones from forming again. This could happen again in 18months or even less. All up with surgery we are looking at $2000.

We paid $2300 18months ago for surgery. I dont know what to do. We have to decide in the next 30minutes.

It has been such an emotional day.
