The Big Move! Anyone know about/live in Tallebudgera/Currumbin Valley Gold Coast?

Hi,

Does anyone live in or know about the Tallebudgera or Currumbin Valleys on the Gold Coast?

We're doing a big tree/sea change from Sydney to be on some acreage near the beach (sorry if you've read something similar posted by me a while back - changing tack - different area on the agenda!).

We'd originally planned to move to the Tweed Coast (behind Cabarita/Pottsville), however it's becoming apparent that if we want our kids to attend a Gold Coast school & for DH to have a better chance of finding work, the GC seems to have more options.

And then there's the commute - living in Tweed & travelling to the GC for work & school (DS starting Prep next year) would mean spending a lot of time in the car, & less local friends for the kids.

I'm just a little nervous because I've come to know the Tweed a bit from holidaying there for many years, but don't know the Valleys behind the GC at all.

Please tell me anything you know or information that would be helpful. Is there a nice community there? Are there options for grocery shopping without having to go into big centres? We're after a more local & connected community than we currently have in Sydney.

Are the Tally/Currumbin Valleys south enough of the main Gold Coast (I'm imagining that's more around Southport/Surfers?), to make it less busy/crowded/touristy?

Going up in May/June, but telling the family about The Big Move this week, so needing to feel more confident about the area...

I live in Tallebudgera/Currumbin valley area. I moved here about 5 years ago, It's a great area everyone i have met are really friendly and lovey. Yes we have some great shops and some great schools and definately less busy, crowded and touristy. Let me know when you get up here if you feel like a coffee and chat
