    Recommend a phone/broadband supplier

We're currently with Optus and am happy with the deal and service. We have a set price for broadband & phone, which is good for budgeting. Any time we've had an issue, they resolve it quickly. However, we'd like to save some money so we're researching other providers & deals.

Can anyone give me pros & cons of their provider? We wouldn't go back to Telstra if they paid us, but other than that, we're open to options.

We're moving to Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

I don't know if iPrimus is in your state/area?

They're run by Telstra (like how 3 is run by Vodafone) but they're ALOT better, ALOT cheaper, have great customer service, and usually talk to Aussies (which is a huge plus in my books, the Filipinos or Indians never understand what you're trying to say and vice versa!)

Gotalk are AWFUL. I went back to tel$tra rather than be with them. By far the lesser of two evils. With gotalk i got no support, had to reset the modem DAILY just to be able to use my home phone.

we've just left AAPT (which owns iinet too) because their actual service drops out all the time for us and their customer service is rubbish. We've signed up with TPG which was by far the cheapest for what we wanted. We've heard good reports from friends that live locally (inner west of Melbourne) about the service but have heard the customer service isn't great...I'm ok with that because it is really so much cheaper and DH and I are both pretty Internet savvy so can sort most things out ourselves once we get set up.

We are with iinet - which runs off Optus - but was a much better deal - service is great! They always solve things ASAP and you don't have to wait on the phone - if you call and they are busy you stay in the queue but THEY call you back!!! Haven't had to do that for a whole though cause barely any problems.

We too are in melbournes east

We are with netspace which has just been taken over by iinet. We have been with Telstra and Optus and tpg in the past. We are very happy with netspace. We pay $69 per month for phone and bb. If we go over 10gig + 10 gig, then it's shaped so no scary bills. We have never even been close to getting shaped!
If we email them they call back or email back, and we have yet to have any real issues with them.
Have you had a sneak peak at the NBN website to see when your new suburb is going to get hooked up. We have to wait 12 month to 3 years.

We were previously with netspace but when we moved we went with a local one. Plans are much more competitive than netspace, no peak/off peak save $10 off your net plan if you bundle phone and net. Customer service is local (very much for me - I went through scouting with one if the owners. Didn't realize til I'd signed up though)
Customer service and tech support have been fantastic. Always a local. Let me know if you want more info!

L&B, it would be worth your while to call Optus and tell them you are planning to change and the reasons why, they will probably offer you a better deal to retain you as a customer, it's easier to keep a customer than attract a new one

Plans and offers change regularly, so there may well be a better deal available and then you don't have to go through the hassle of changing

We were with TPG before going pre-paid but once we move to where ADSL is actually servicable in our area we are going with Optus as they have already offered us a great deal since Ive been a mobile customer of theres for years

BG - I'd love those details

It turns out Optus is not in our new area It also looks like the builder hasn't connected the line, so we may ned to pay a big connection fee.

*Sigh* I loathe Telstra. Hopefully one of the other providers can give us a good deal. I was looking at a $65 bundle with Optus which would have saved us money from what we currently pay.

Unfortunately, they're on the Optus network. So no good for us
