Not with his boss but with his team leader. Professor laid it all on the line, said he was actively looking for another job and WHY he's doing so (lack of training, lack of acknowledgement, constantly doing his managers work for no recognition). He also explained to his team leader about his AS, because he feels he's not fitting in properly in the office, even though he's been there 5 years now. Team leader thanked him for telling him about the AS, apparently he's being perceived as argumentative - which nobody has brought up with him, which seems strange to me! - but TL now understands. He suggested a communication workshop for Professor, which he's very happy to do, to help him pick up on social cues etc.
TL also explained that while they understand that things aren't being done right at the moment, and they're trying to fix it, what they need Professor to do is bring up his problems earlier. So instead of going to them the day before a job is due out and saying it'll be late, he needs to go sooner, as soon as he realises it's going to be a problem. This isn't something they've said before, they just kept telling him he was taking too long, and he kept saying that he can't go any quicker because he's having to redraw entire jobs due to the errors in them. So another communication breakdown there.
But he's happy with the review, and he says a weight's been lifted now that they know and understand about the AS. I'm just happy he's not so stressed out now
