    HCG Doubling Times

Hi Everyone - I'm onto my fourth pregnancy in 12 months and was wondering if anyone knows the rule on the HCG doubling time debate. I was feeling so positive after my first beta came back strong, only to be told by the clinic nurse yesterday that, in her exact words "wasn't looking good" because my numbers hadn't doubled in the 48 hours. They were 204 on Thursday at 14dpo and 331 yesterday at 16dpo - everything I read on the net says anything from 48-72 hours is normal and have worked out my numbers would have definitely doubled by the 72 hours and have gone up 62% in the 48 hours. Now I'm sitting here stressing until I have to re-test on Monday but just thought I'd ask if anyone had any experience with this themselves. I don't know who/what to believe!

Supposedly it's 48-72 hours. I've heard of them not doubling in that time and everything working out though.

Thanks Schonell - well that makes me feel a little better as mine would definitely have doubled by the 72 hours, my doubling time was put at 68 hours and that's if it didn't continue to rise over the next 24 hours to take me to the 72. Urgh, I hate this, so much, I just want to be normal!

If you google betabase there is a website with this name where real people load their beta HCG levels. I would include the link but not sure I am allowed to. There are lots of differences between people and I found the site invaluable during the early days of my pregnancies.

What times of the day did you get your BT on the Thursday and Saturday?

I've heard the 48 to 72 too and like Maruschke says, if you did BTs at different times of the day that can have a big impact on numbers.

Will have everything crossed for you that your results tomorrow are brilliant.

Hi Girls - thanks for all your votes of confidence Maruschke they were pretty much taken at the same time, Thursday morning was taken about 8.30 am and Saturday's were about 8.15 am. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow, will keep you posted xx

Alison I know my FS is comfortable if they double in 72. Please try and relax I know it's hard but your mind is powerful and if your mind starts to think something is wrong it effects your body.
    Goodluck for tomorrow

    Those numbers look fine

The day AF was due I had a hcg of 18, which everyone was undoubtedly concerned with. My numbers also didn't double within 48 hours, but here I am 26 weeks pregnant with an active boy on the way!!!

    Good luck

Hi Joeve - thanks so much, I am hoping i just got a cranky nurse yesterday - I'm going to ask a different one and see what she says and say something about them being too negative if she was wrong!! I know you can't believe everything you read on the internet but everything says 48-72 and Sunshine11 thanks for the tip I'm googling that site and it is really informative.

Just to add to what I said earlier hun, I have seen plenty of different HCG levels all over the shop on the forums, with the pg progressing well. I think your initial numbers look strong and that's really good, and even the second BT is looking pretty good to me too Stray stong hun and keep thinking positive for you and your lil embie. Will have everything crossed for you for tomorrow hun xoxox

Alison, I totally get it, your fear that is. After 3 m/cs its normal to doubt your body's ability to carry a pregnancy and dwell on negative thoughts from others, but I can say that your numbers sound great to me.

Thank you all girls, you've made me feel a little more positive with your own positive stories and comments. Here's hoping for a good result tomorrow or I'll just crumble. I shall let you know how it goes. Love to you all xx
