What's the deal with selling wedding gifts we don't need or use?

So, we're moving. Yay and all that

We have a lot of stuff hanging around that we never use, and we're planning to sell them on via eBay and a garage sale. However, some of the things were wedding gifts. Like the fake Rolexes SIL got us, and the chocolate fountain we tried to use once before giving up I feel a bit bad though, because people obviously wanted us to use these gifts. But we need the space, and the extra money towards the move would be great.

I suppose I just need someone to tell me I'm not a horrible person for selling my wedding gifts.

Not horrible at all. Someone who will use them will take them better that than gathering dust.

Congrats on getting a house! I would sell them as they are just taking up space and moving costs a lot (we just had to unexpectidly come up with bond and rent) so im sure people would understand

I reckon once someone gives you something, it's yours to do with as you wish. You can keep something for sentimental reasons but if you don't want to, you shouldn't have to. Especially if they're appliances or something generic like that, coz really, I think anyone would be hard-pressed to place too much sentimental value on a fake Rolex.

And if you're moving, surely you don't want to move stuff you just wouldn't use anyway, right? I don't think anyone would begrudge you that!

If it was my ex-sil, then yes, she would begrudge it (talking from experience here). So just be prepared to have an excuse, moving is an ideal one, a box got lost, dropped etc

I would do it. I often regift things we wont use (ie bath sets or chocolates, or double up of toys/clothes) as I figure someone else can use them.

Sell it for sure. Next weekend there is a big garage sale trail event going on so is perfect timing.

My favourite gift is the gift of space in my home, I don't really get how anyone can begrudge you that and oppose to the selling of things you don't use.

I have given heaps of unwanted gifts to charity shops, but if I had thought about it I could have put them on ebay or something. Wouldn't have thought twice about it. So yeah, I say sell them.

Also, fixed the title up for ya

    Was probably a regift

I say sell 'em. No point having stuff in our house you don't want. Take photos first if you want to preserve the memory for sentimental sake.
