This is probably going to sound really stupid, and I feel a bit odd complaining but it's annoying and now expensive!
Apparently- according to the ladies in the lingerie shop I buy my pretty maternity bras from - they don't make my size any more!
After nearly 3 years, I am finally back to my pre-preg size. So we went shopping for a pretty new bra.
She measures me up and says "gee, your very small..." I told her a liked a white lacey number "hmm..."
She gets down a 10C, put it on, it's too big. "hmm, the cup size is right, but you're very small..."
It turns out, they don't make 8's any more! WTF!?
So now I have to buy a 10C for $70 and pay another $25 to have it altered! So nearly $100 for ONE tiny (apparently) bra.
I just did a quick search on the Bras and Things website and they have heaps of bras in an 8C. Maybe the salespeople were only talking about that particular style?
I used to have the same problem (hoping to again someday!). I found they often had 8 available but it was individual stores choosing what they stocked. I used to find a style in store then order the right size online if that makes sense?
I haven't been to bras n things for years, they only sell the bonds (I think that's the brand) mat. Bras. At least up here anyway. And they don't fit me properly.
I usually get Hot Milk or Cake and the lady was definitely talking about all thier maternity stock. Only 1 design has an 8 and I bought that last fortnight. So unless I want a wardrobe full of dark blue bras I have no choice.
I'll have a look at whats available online, but I'm not reply a fan of buying clothes online.
I just want to be able to go into the shop, try my size and buy it if I like it.
Ok, just had a look, couldn't find out what sizes Hot Milk do without going to individual stockists sites (which I will do one day when I can get on a pc instead of my phone).
Cakes site they start at 10B. So no 8's at all. But they do go up to 18J!
I had this same problem I know Intimo have a number of 8c but I haven't bought from them for a while so don't know about pricing. You can find on Internet.
im not sure where you would find maternity size 8. if you are wanting normal ones BNT definitely does do size 8. i have to buy all my bras there as they are the only ones that fit me. if you want to go to the logan hyperdome, ask for erica to fit you. i used to work there and she is sooooo nice and has been working there for years so knows her stuff.
you might also find that if you are a size 10c then when you go down to an 8 you will be an 8D.
if you need any other help let me know.
i hear you!
been having probelms being an 8 my whole life.
from an F cup to a G (when BFing) and now an E
BUt i have to do that very thing, buy a cup that fits (usually 12DD) and have it altered.
I rarely spend under $100 per bra.
Evn used to do testing fro triumph when they were making an effort to fit girls of different shapes. but they bras were still around $80 ea
Maybe you would have more choice, and it would be cheaper, to buy a non-maternity bra in your size and then get the strap changed to enable it for breastfeeding.
I hate buying bras - its never, ever easy, whether buying maternity or normal.
Do you have existing size 8s in Hot Milk? Only ask because it is (at least I've found) a smaller size than other maternity brands and I have to go up a size. Brands exclusive had them in an internet sale recently and I went into a shop to try them on first to check my size because like you, I don't like buying clothing online and certainly not going to risk it with non-returnable underwear. Had told myself I would buy one in the store so I didn't feel bad about wasting their time, but then buy another two or three online. I paid $25 online and they wanted $80 in the shop so I checked my sizing and scooted on out of there otherwise empty handed. I seriously don't get the price justification for little bits of lace and satin.
Anyway, they've been on internet sale again since my first purchase so maybe they're a fairly regular sale item. Could be worth you looking out for.
The website boobytrapwareouse (dot com dot au) have a Hotmilk mat bra in 8C on sale for $25. (I actually have this style, albeit in a much larger size , and I really like it)
I hear ya, sista. This has been my pet peeve for years. You feel like an idiot for complaining "oh I'm so slim I can't buy maternity bras" but really! They make size 8 dresses, but all of a sudden you're pregnant and whammo, you're suddenly a size 12? What? Umm, no not everyone gains weight when pregnant. I lost weight and my boob-waist didn't change size. And I'm sooooo sick of being told "so and so make a small 10". It's still a size 10.
Hotmilk do not make size 8. Never did as far as I've ever known. Freya does, they're expensive and hard to find. You can buy them online, but I've never tried them. I wear maternity crop tops from target that are size 10 but they're not actually bras so they just keep me tucked away rather than anything. Also, being cheap junk they shrunk in the dryer which worked out well.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hear you. Buying bras is a bloody mission.
I recently went around to all the shops in my area over a couple of weeks looking for new bras and found NONE!!!!!!! I have given up on maternity bras now and just bought normal ones in the closest size I could find
so I've just been through 3 pages of online maternity bra stockists and not 1 of them had a single 8C (except the Bonds ones which I find very uncomfortable and unflattering).
ETA - I give up. I'll just have to go braless for the rest of my life....
