    Entertainment book - worth buying?

Just as the title says. Wondering what sort of things are in them. I've heard they're good but have no clue really. TIA.

We always get one, some years get more use than others. I think they list the participating venues on the website, possibly

We find once we've used it a couple of times it pays for itself.

We got one the last 2 years and we have found it great. Not sure how much we'll get to use the "gold" section at the front after i finish working lol, but it has some great vouchers for movies and other things. We find that it pays for itself.

I have bought them several times in the past, mainly because I have felt pressured to as they were sold as fundraisers! I have never used a single coupon and for me they were a waste of money. Having said that, I know others who think they're great!

We always buy them. Once we've gone out to one of the gold restaurants on the front, it's paid for itself. We use it to try out different restaurants for our date nights

    Yep, we always buy one

I can sell you one Pac - my kinder and church are both fundraising with them.

If you use three of the restaurant vouchers in the "family dining" section (things like Taco Bill, pubs (Eltham Pub and DC Pub are both in I think), casual dining places) and a couple of the fast food/coffee/ice cream vouchers, it'll pay for itself.

Remember my Sea World holiday? I know not your idea holiday but it was a massive saving and that was through the Entertainment Book.

I wonder if caravan parks are listed? Google Entertainment Book and you can browse the listings before you make a decision.

    a world of yes.

if nothing else, you can get coles/kmart/liquorland giftcards for 5% off.

ie: you can buy a $200 coles giftcard for $190 and use it for your supermarket shopping for the fortnight ... do that every fortnight of the year, and you've saved $260 - after paying only $65 for the book.

without even starting on any of the vouchers!

We get one each year for Adelaide cause that's where we live.
Last year we also bought the far north Qld one and the Tasmanian one as we went on holidays to both locations made our money back on the initial outlay for the books and then passed the books on to others who used more of the vouchers (the tassie one went to a BB member and then onto her family as well)
so definitely worth the $$ if you go out to a few things over the year - we make our Adelaide one pay for itself in meals out with DHs family (we go out for everyone's birthday over the course of the year and we usually go to a voucher location as usually 2 or 3 of us have the book so we save as an extended family there)

Definitely good for us. I love good food but my DH sees food as a means to survive and nothing more, so the EB gives us an economical way of going to the nicer restaurants two or three times a year where I can enjoy lovely food but we don't feel bad about the money we're spending given that he's sitting there wishing he was at Hungry Jacks instead! It also makes it easy to have a rare catch up with a girlfriend at a nicer restaurant.

Now that the girls are a little older the family activity discounts are coming in really handy too.

Never thought about it that way Peanutter but the Coles voucher savings is pretty good!

I just find that I don't remember to use them even though I cut them out and put them in my bag!!

Put the giftcard in your purse/wallet, in the same slot as your creditcard - but IN FRONT OF your credit card

I buy two every year, this year am going to actually clock up savings but easily pay for themselves I reckon. We almost only eat out at places in book. Also in the places section there are things like buy one get one free zoo vouchers we are FOTZ but when have visitors they can use that saves a third of book in one shot. I have been know to buy book for holiday destinations, sometimes tours in them buy one get one free and tour costs 80 dollars so have saved it in one go. Even just the coffee and ice cream type vouchers add up.

    Thanks

How long are they valid for? Assuming 12 months? Thinking it will be a good thing to have for once this house sells and we're looking for nights out when we're living with mum.

12 months - Starts in June

We get one every year - always save more than it costs. In fact as our fav restaurant is in it, we save about $25 per visit (they never mark the card off, lots of business's dont to encourage you to come back), we only need to go there 3 times a year to cover the cost - and we go there more than that

But I find it gives us lots of good ideas for things to do too. Best tip is to read through all the vouchers etc as soon as you get it so you remember you have vouchers for things. I kick myself when we've been somewhere are realise AFTER that we had a voucher for it! (Even Gloria Jeans etc, fast food etc)
