    Costco? What do you buy?

So my mum and I thought we'd do a visit to Costco (Sydney) on Friday. Mainly just to check it out but also to see of its worth a 3 or 6 monthly visit to stock up on certain things...

So, for those who have been, what did you buy or what did you think was good value? I already meal plan and shop monthly so like the idea of "bulk" buying.

You really need to know your prices! I find fresh food well priced but stuff like nappies, deodorant etc...not so

Thanks, I have all my grocery receipts so plan to do a bit of a "price list" before we go. Aldi prices are also on online so I can compare. I am "brand loyal" on a few things (tissues, shampoo, soft drink etc) so would like to see if they are any cheaper (if stocked) as I buy most other groceries at Aldi.

I went when visiting my bro in canberra. Only bought 3 things and spent $100! LOL. It adds up very easily.

Dishwasher tablets. Two boxes for $30... they're normally $28 each! Washing powder I got 10kg for about $30. And I got DH his root beer lol, which was also around $30. Not a bargain, but there's not many places that sell it

My SIL tried the fresh food, but even that seems to be in bulk, so there was waste. She said it would be good if you're having a bbq or party or something.

I didn't really have a good look around as I hadn't really budgeted for a costco shop LOL. Would love to do a real price comparison and see if it's worth it myself. Things like teabags and shampoos etc I'd be interested in.

Just another quick question Are the products at Costco "known" Aussie brands or Generic/US/Other brands?

    I love costco!
I usually go once a month and buy
Nappies - love the kirkland brand. The only nappies that really "fit" my DS.
    Wipes
    Dips
    Toilet paper
    Hand towel
    Milk
    Bread rolls (very yummy)
    Quiche
    Frozen fish
    Pies
    Vegies
    Peanut butter

Plus a few other things. They are cheap on some things but you have to know your prices. Most stuff I buy is a lot cheaper than other shops.

For me nappies are NOT cheaper to buy from costco.
A big box of toddler sized nappies is 148 for $59.
Coles/Woolies have them 81 for $32 (so 162 for $64) and sometimes cheaper than that.
It works out marginally cheaper for costco but once you factor in petrol etc i dont think nappies are on the 'worth it to wait' list.
I also selected them in ym flybuys 'my 5' so get 10% off that price which means more nappies cheaper price.

I have just started using Wella S&C and saw they stock it at the sale price I see in supermarkets... so they have good deals and they are around more regularly.
Means you *could* go to costco to buy thse things if they arent on special at the shops.

For us, i dont know if we will see $60 worth of savings to make the membership worthwhile, but it's FUN! It's a fun family outing and we get to do harbourtown while were there.

Look out for their coupons. They're usually much more worth it then too.
