    Thyroid???

    Hi,

I had a 16 week scan yesterday and everything with baby is good and so is my blood pressure.

My OB sent me for a blood test to check on my thyroid as after years of being underactive and out of whack I had managed to get back into the normal range at the end of last year.

Anyway I am currently taking 260 micrograms of a natural thyroid hormone through my GP. My OB rang me this morning and said that my results show that the medication is too high and that I have to immediately go to a half dose for 2 weeks and then have another blood test.

I am worried as it was a fast phone call and I don't even know if I am over or under??? I then stupidly googled pregnancy and thyroid problems and read some scary stuff!!

Anyone else had a thyroid play up on them?? Am I just nuts?? Maybe it's nothing but I can't stop thinking about it, wished I had asked more questions...........can't now its a weekend!!

    Thanks Bronze

    Thyroid???

Hi bronze, I had a thyroidectomy so am now under active. When I'm not pregnant I'm normally one 150 per day and always increase to 200 when pregnant - currently 12 weeks. Ring your Ob on Monday if you worried as you would be hypo now if they want you to cut back. Just remember that 2 weeks is not much time in between for the new levels to set in, normally I am told to wait 6 weeks for more accuracy. Stop googling! IMO I would follow your doctors advice and call if worried.
